Yep, I've had the same one for 3 yrs on my Summit and now the SRT. Still mint condition and I use it every day. Stiff panels so it stays and covers 100% using your visors to hold up.

I second GoPlzGo. I've been using the Covercraft Sunscreens in all my cars for over 20 years now. Best protection against the sun short of a car cover.

Any recommendations for the dash protection from sun?

I agree with using covercraft. I originally cleaned and conditioned the dash weekly. After my friends threatened an intervention, I considered alternative options.

Similar to the cover craft one, I use one from weather tech.

I have one of these and they're custom fit tightly. I really like how its held up through 3 years and provide complete coverage with no overlapping. Custom fits like a glove.

I cearmic tint all my windshields to avoid any UV/Sun damage. They offer it in clear so you don't have to worry about breaking any laws. Invisible protection without ruining your interior appearance.

The nice thing about the windshield reflectors is that they help keep the interior a bit cooler--even in Arizona as they reflect all of the light back out.

Dashboard rugs also help protect it, but the shape isn't overly conducive to the things staying in place, plus many look like crap.

More about this ceramic tinting, please?
Where do you get it, where does it go, and how much does it cost and can it be applied yourself?

Reasonably important--does it go in the outside and does it add ANY protection against the !#$!@#$ chip prone modern Jeep windshields?

Re: Any recommendations for the dash protection from sun?

I've been using the Weathertech option almost since I got my WK2 and am very happy with it. It does a great job keeping the vehicle cooler. My vehicle sits out year round, and I've not used the backside which is black in the winter months. They say you can put black side out and this will help keep the frost off of your windshield. Has anyone tried this?

lstowell, my best bud moved to CO a few years ago and I can tell you that it's not only our WK2's that are prone to chipping. His X5's windshield seems to be replaced once if not twice a year due to the gravel they lay down on the roads during the winter months.

Ceramic tint goes on the inside of the shield, just as any other tint would. The only difference here is that it is clear. I'd imagine that your local tint shops would have it. Not sure about the cost, but again, check with your local shop.

It is just the same tint used on the other glass on vehicles. I used Suntek. Here's what their site says.

CeramicIR, the ultimate window film evolution, offers all the performance advantages of the popular CarbonXP (CXP) line as well as enhanced solar performance and infrared rejection. Other features and benefits include:

The latest in Ceramic and non-metal, nano-hybrid Carbon technology manufactured in the world's most technologically advanced facility
Non-reflective, "black" finish that will not fade
Exceptional heat, infrared and UV rejection increases comfort while providing high-end performance for high-end vehicles
Blocks over 99% of harmful ultraviolet light to protect vehicle occupants as well as the interior
Signal enabling technology that causes no interference with cell phone, radio or navigation system signals
Lifetime Manufacturer's warranty, that includes fading

Crap, thanks anyhoo.
All the construction on the front range and "chip seal" everywhere is really a bitch on windshields, particularly chip seal on the higher speed roads where if you get even a tiny bit of rock, you get a nasty ding.
Not yet bad enough for insurance company to replace as it is nowhere near driver vision, and too honest to "help" the dings with a ball peen.

Gotta try that reversing the sunshade in the winter--never thought of it.

Get a Covercraft folding sun visor. I use one here in Texas and it definitely keeps the interior 20 degrees cooler even when parked in the hot Texas sun.
