Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I'm in no need of wearing a helmet and running 12s . It's 2014 the pano sunroof are not like my leaky trans am ttops of the 70s and 80s. This is a must when it comes to this $65,000 piece of machinery.

My last vehicle had one. It also had a feature where you could open all windows and the sunroof with the key fob. I used it on hot days while approaching the dock, just to let excess heat out of the vehicle. Other than that, I had no use for it either.

I am like you Bill. The sunroof on my 2011 GC was never opened and I doubt the one on my 14 will ever be opened either. If I want to be in the open air, I take my 68 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible for a ride. Al

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I love the big sunroof on my 2012 and have it open at every opportunity. It would be even better if the glass would retract full length, but of course there is no space left in the roof for it to go. Maybe the engineers can come up with some roll up glass ha ha ! To me, seems crazy not to have a sunroof on such an upscale vehicle.

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I had the pana sunroof on my 2012 CTS-V sedan. Nothing but creaks and heat(even had it tinted), and I didn't have leaks but I've read plenty did. I ordered my 2014 GC SRT without it. Glad I did and haven't missed it. Not to mention I think(my opinion) the vehicle is a little lighter up top. That glass has to weight something.

I went through the same debate before I aced my order last week and I ended up not ordering the pano roof. I use the sunroof in my current vehicle about 2x a year and it just wasn't worth the extra 2k and potential squeaks/rattles that seem to be so common.

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I'm in SoCal and use the regular (non-Panoramic) sunroof on my 2012 Overland ALL THE TIME.

I often open just the shade to get more light into the cabin. On good days, I'll open the whole thing to get some fresh air. Heck, today I opened it all the way 2x (lunch & back).

I often wonder when I see expensive vehicles driving around on beautiful days, why so few have their sunroofs open. Seems like a waste of money to not use it.

BTW, I don't find the sunroof adds any additional noise or heat IMHO. With the shade closed, it's just like having a solid roof.

If I had to do it again; I would forgo the expense. Even without the additional noise; many times the sun shining in is an annoyance (and extra heat load) that sunglasses don't and A/C can't makeup for (even in cold Canada) :-).
More than 90% of the time the sunshade is closed; I find the fishbowl provides enough light without the sunroof shade open.

I wouldn't have asked for it, but like most of the "nicely equipped" models on the dealer's lots these days, the Overland I liked came with it already installed. I never use it. One good thing is...it's less surface to wax twice a year!

I ordered my SRT without Pano. Just the regular sunroof is enough for me.

I never sit in the back and the kids prefer not to have the sun on them.

Cheers.

What year srt? It was my understanding that if you don't order the pano you get no sunroof on the 14's?

Did something Change with the 2014 Panoramic Sunroof?!?

The last time I checked, it came with a Sun Shade that Totally blocked ALL light when closed. And while I haven't measured it myself, the interior temperature of WK2s sitting in the sun seems to be the same regardless of whether they have a sunroof or not.
