anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

As I am preparing to order my 2014 SRT, I'm considering NOT getting the panoramic sunroof. I live in Fresno California and it gets HOT here in the summer and that sunroof looks to me like it would make the interior hotter even with the shade pulled. Also given that it's 3 times the size of a regular sunroof it seems like there is 3 times the likelihood of rattles and squeaks from all the associated hardware.

Any thoughts? Anyone NOT have the sunroof that cares to comment? It seems like all of them have it.

I ordered my SRT with the Roof. I wouldn't get any vehicle without a roof of one sort or another. I love the feel of glass overhead day or night. I feel claustrophobic in vehicles that don't have a roof. Our Florida car has a roof with a sunshade and the shades do work well. The roof has solid shades that block the sun. I've had the Panoramic roof on my Overland for two years and I've had no problems to speak of. I also think that resale will be higher with the roof.

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I would have paid extra, yes, paid extra if I could have gotten my previous 2012 Overland and current 2014 Summit to have a solid steel roof. I have no use for any glass roof over my head.

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I would prefer no sunroof. I don't even open the shade.

My last vehicle had one. It also had a feature where you could open all windows and the sunroof with the key fob. I used it on hot days while approaching the dock, just to let excess heat out of the vehicle. Other than that, I had no use for it either.

Re: anyone else prefer not to have the panoramic sunroof?

I really like the sunroof in my 2010. It's not the panoramic but I would prefer to have that one based on my test drives of the 2014's that have them.

I use mine quite a bit! I leave it on "vent" to help vent the hot truck in the summer. It really helps a lot!!!

I picked up my '14 4x4 Limited on 9/7. I ordered it with a standard sun roof. I. Had o eOgden on
My '96 4 Runner. I didn't use it a lot but there were times on vacation that I was glad I had it like on my trip to the N. Calif. redwoods this summer.

Don't particularly like sunroofs, but on the Grand Cherokee it does serve one important purose.. .It's 12 square feet less of roof to wax twice a year!

It's like ordering pizza without the cheese.

I ordered a pizza online once and somehow checked a box that removed cheese from my pizza (this shouldn't even be an option!)... man was I disappointed.

I debated on whether or not to get my 14 SRT with the pano roof. On my prior car (CTS-V), the roof was more trouble than it was worth. It always made noise, and I lost alot of headroom.

I ended up getting it b/c my wife likes sunroofs, and I figured that down the road if I get rid of it, it will likely get a higher resale.

One thing to note - if you plan on running 12's (I hope I do), you'll need to wear a helmet at the track - and judging from the small amount of space above my head (I'm 5'11"), I'm gonna have a hard time driving with a helmet on.
