if i did i would so change those.
Thanks.

Take a video of cycling through all your light options. Not quite sure what your saying about how they operate. I'm sure there is a way to make it work.

Re: Anyone Successfully Swap DRLs to LED??

Will drive an SRT that showed up at my dealer later today, but I was under the impression the strip of LEDs under the headlamps were DRLs, no? I'll be disappointed if they're not. DRLs look like crap on the '12 Overland. Wish I could just turn them off easily, without disablling anything else, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

On the SRT8 the DRLs are the LED strips. The other bulb in the headlight isn't a DRL, more a parking lamp. The halogen "DRL" only comes on with remote start, the parking lamps, or headlights. The bulbs can be removed altogether without issue. On non SRTs the DRL is that halogen bulb. But since the SRT had the LED strips they couldn't leave and empty spot in the headlight housing, hence the "DRL" bulb.

I get it now; thanks a million man. So why can't we just replace the incandescent bulb with an LED one? It's not like on the Overland then, where the same DRL bulb serves as the high beam, correct? Read that the SRT has bi-xenon lamps, similar to E92 BMWs, where the inner headlight just has a cornering light (part of the 'adaptive headlight system'). Thanks again.

You could just swap an LED bulb in if the bulb connections matched the factory bulb socket connection. In my case of bulb chosen they didn't match, hence the rewire. Simply the power and grounds didn't match without a rewire. Find a bulb that matches and it could be as simple as a bulb switch.

Yes, SRT has Bi-Xenon lamps for both low/high beam. There is a shield that just moves up for the high beams.

I have a 2012 Overland and disabled the DRLs. There is a small black box under the hood on the passenger side,...open the cover and pull the two relays on the right, and put them in a safe place or in the glove box, and put the cover back on. It's a 30 second mod and the DRLs no longer ever come on. There's a thread on it with a picture over in the WK2 section,...here it is http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=30089
picture: http://images16.fotki.com/v220/photo...5555_51-vi.jpg - pull the two relays labeled OMRON on the right.

He is correct on pulling the relays out on the non-SRT8s to disable the DRLs. I've read through these threads in the past searching for info. Here is a pic of the stock setup in the SRT8. I wonder what would happen if I put relays in the SRT8 lol?

Your relays are already out because your second set of DRLs (like the Overlands) don't run as you have the LED strip instead. At least that's what I've read on jeepgarage.org from someone before.

Yes, I understand why I don't have the relays already. I was just saying I wonder what would happen if I put some in? I wonder if there is any wiring hooked up to those relay ports?

Oh. I completely misread that. I think they might work if you plugged the two relays in. Just a hunch.
