Attn SRT: WK3 Wish List

It's time to start the official wish list for the next generation Jeep SRT. I ask that you please use your heads and only make reasonable suggestions that could make it into production without driving the price up to $100k.

I will update this as I think of things

I'll start with what I believe is very possible:

Exterior:
1. SRT hit the nail on the head with the factory hood. Please keep this concept alive. Classy yet aggressive. No childish scoops like the old Charger SRT8 hood. Deep vents, slight bulge, possible louvers.
2. Possible center exhaust option if tow package not selected
3. Factory 21" light-weight forged wheels
4. Follow the same logic as with the 2014 refresh. i.e. more differences from the standard Jeep. With the 12-13s I can't tell the difference from an overland until I am very close. The '14s have unique tail lights which make it easier to spot
5. 200-400lbs of weight reduction
6. Power folding mirrors on all models
7.

Interior
1. No more microfiber inserts in seats. Use all Napa leather. Keep the carbon fiber. Add real Alcantara to the headliners/pillars on all SRT Jeeps, and real Alcantara to the doors and parts of the steering wheel
2. Keep the same amount of leather and stitching. It's beautiful
3. 2-tone interior options (Red, Silver/white, Blue accents).
4.

Everything Else
1. Only one engine option! This is the SRT. There is no room for 2 models. The only option is the 6.4L Hellcat, 550HP MINIMUM
2. Louder factory exhaust
3. Factory support for tuning
4. $75k loaded (not including blue-ray)
5.


Things that I'd like but will probably drive up the cost unnecessarily:

1. Sport air suspension like on the Cayenne Turbo
2. More leather covered parts
3. Large Pano Sunroof that opens all the way to the back.

Anything other than the 6.2L Supercharged hellcat will be a fail IMO. I don't care if it's 2000HP and 0-60 in -3 seconds, if it's a 6 Cylinder I won't be interested. They have no soul. I've driven Porsche TTs and a GTR. As magnificent as those machines are, the engine is a deal breaker for me.

NOTE:
This thread is referring to the SRT variant. Not the standard Jeep. A TT V6 in an Overland is a great idea.

Go away and stay in the v6 forum. We don't want you here with your stupid off road srt comments. No one wants an off road srt.
The RR is 550 hp...lost 800 pounds and costs double an SRT and I'll still smoke it's ass. The RR sport is supercharged and still can't keep up with the archaic 6.4....

with you driving??? 2014 Stock GC SRT8 against a stock 2014 Range Rover Sport V8 supercharged. Old heavy 2013 Range Rover Sport is quicker to 0 to 100mph than the 2014 GC SRT8 and a tenth quicker in 1/4 mile according to C&D. So get in some track time Scottie and maybe just maybe you can get within a couple car lengths on pavement. I am sure at Mid Ohio, Road Atlanta, Summit Point, or VIR the Sport will smoke you and your stock GC SRT8. Chances are I smoke you at VIR or Summit Point in my GC with winter tires.

Just remember just about anyone can drive fast in straight line.

And sorry dont come back with some knuckleheads on You Tube who were faster. Lets go with trusted sources like AW, Automobile, R&T, C&D and even MT.

Shame a GC SRT8 is only kind of capable on the road.

Scott, while I don't necessarily agree with him, the SRT does not destroy a RRS. The numbers I have seen suggest that the RRS is faster, although not too much. For instance, MTSUVOTY numbers have the RRS beating the SRT to 60 and through the 1/4 mile (13.1@103.6 and 4.4 for the JGC SRT, 12.8@109.9 and 4.3 for the RRS), although not by too much. I think it is fair to say the JGC SRT and RRS seem to be even in terms of performance (JGC has a significant edge in braking, however) in stock form. However, I have no doubt that YOUR JGC SRT would DESTROY a RRS.

All of that being said, those numbers could very much be misleading. For instance, maybe the JGC SRT had all-seasons and the RRS had summer tires, or the JGC SRT was not broken in yet (makes a huge difference) and the RRS was. Or maybe the RRS was tested early in the morning in 50 degree weather and the JGC SRT was tested at noon in 90 degree weather. The point I am trying to make is that the SRT does not destroy the RRS in stock form, the two are actually fairly close.

However, Scott is not exaggerating much when he says that the RRS costs twice as much as the SRT . A RRS Supercharged equipped comparatively to the JGC SRT (with all options) is ~$85,000, and an Autobiography model can get to $105,000 with all of the options tacked. The advantages the RRS has over the JGC SRT are more off-road ability, more customization (including the ability to add ridiculous options), and the RR name (not an advantage for me, but for some people. That is NOT worth the $15,000+ price jump at all, which is why I am having trouble justifying the RRS over the SRT (only thing would be personal preference). The only reason I haven't bought an SRT is because I am relatively low-key (go ahead, make fun of me for trying to be low-key in a RRS or JGC SRT) and the JGC attracts a TON of attention, especially the 2014s. When I see them on the road, my head automatically turns to look, even before I know what it is (especially if it is red). It is the same thing that happens to me when I see a Ferrari or Lamborghini, and it doesn't happen when I see a RRS. Also, people stop to take pictures of one at a stoplight, in the parking lot, etc., even if they don't know what it is. This is not necessarily a negative thing, I am just not sure if that is the impression I want to make.



Alright, enough of that, there are plenty of JGC SRT vs. RRS threads already. PM me or post in my thread (in my signature) if you want to continue it, don't ruin another thread for no reason.

As for off-road ability, I don't think the SRT needs any and completely agree with Scott. SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology, after all. However, I do hope that a V8 with more power comes to the Overland or Summit, as I would buy that in an instant.

Finally, my wishlist for the next-gen SRT consists of the following:
-MORE POWER (Hellcat)
-Weight reduction
-More interior options
-Adaptive shocks (Charger and 300 SRT have them, not sure about Challenger)
-Dual-clutch tranny would be cool, although the 8-speed is great
-HEMI Orange color

There isn't too much to improve on, as JGC SRT as it is does its job almost perfectly as it is.

Edit: JUST TO BE CLEAR, I am NOT supporting Setoutguy. I was only trying to clarify that the SRT, while it may be faster, does not blow away the RRS in terms of performance.

1.) Slightly concave, medium thickness 5-spoke wheel. Lightweight and 21". 5-spoke wheels are timeless and always an easy hit on sports cars. The spyder monkeys have grown on me, but are a bit too busy. Don't worry that it's another 5-spoke wheel on the SRT Jeep.....we like that, kinda like Porsche lovers like the 911 attributes and they always need to carry over somehow.

2. Piggy backing on first post, interior color options. I love the light beige interior in my in-laws interior (seats/doors/instrument panel). I'd get it on a new SRT if offered. I'm tired of black interiors and would like something different. Yes, there is Sepia and the red in other SRTs, but I would like the full interior change, not just the seats.

3. No more double sided tape to hold your SRT specific body cladding on. First, that's low budget for a vehicle this price, second, it's not the best choice for vehicles that are going to be in all different climates.

4. Forget about Alcantara on the doors and pillars. Put it on the steering wheel and seat inserts. It will provide much better body grab on the seat inserts than full leather or microfiber. I have this on my Shelby and the Recaro's and it is ridiculous how the Alcantara holds you in from sliding across the seat surface.

5. Some type of "true" metallic blue exterior color. Something like the Viper's blue or the WRX World Rally Blue. The SRT should have all basic colors covered (black, white, fairly bright red, fairly bright blue, silver, maybe throw in a charcoal gray and second darker red or blue).

6. No less than 530HP. I don't care if it is higher than the other SRT vehicles numbers, it also weighs a lot more than them. This is the only place the Cayenne Turbo and XM5 truly kick the SRTs butt. Up the HP and the other 2 will start losing the car reviews consistently because their higher cost will only be due to the name.

7. DO NOT raise the price again like you did between the WK1 and WK2. This vehicle is already pushing its outer limits of cost versus name brand.

I shouldn't have been so general. Yes it has "soul", a lot more than the GTR at least. But if you've been in and driven other marks of the same Caliber i.e. Viper, ZR1, F Cars, Lamborghini's you'll understand what I mean. The 6 cylinder engine is boring. The only exception I know of is the Supra, and even then meh. I've been in a GTR with 900AWHP and it sounded weak IMO and was not exciting.

With the Porsche, in my case it was my uncle's 997 Turbo S, once you get accustomed to the neck breaking 0-60 (thanks to AWD and Transmission) it's a pretty boring car. There is no sensation driving it unless you are hitting the corners hard or under extreme acceleration. In that sense yes it has no soul.

Go hop in a Viper and drive it around cruising speeds. Take a ride in a Murcielago or Gallardo. The engines sing beautiful notes that you feel through your body. I never get that with a 6 cylinder.

Nothing supports my case better than the Lemans races. Ferrari, Viper, Vette drive by and the stands rumble, erection ensues. Then the mufflerless Porsche comes by sounding like a weed eater.

That's what I mean by soul.

Sure the Jeep has AWD and an automatic transmission, but it also has a massive V8 the makes even slow driving a treat. Especially with an exhaust system.

Also, for those who don't know, two magazines have tested the 2014 GC at 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. That is the official number of a broken in '14 SRT in normal weather, IMO of course. With my experience I'd say that is spot on good time to quote when bench racing.

That means the new RR supercharged and the '14 Jeep are neck and neck to 60. Now if we want to talk about going to the track other than the drag strip, I'm confident the SRT will destroy the RR equal drivers. Most magazines I've seen put the SRT out handling the competition. Even the Cayenne Turbo. Strangly, the slalom and skidpad times weren't as good but the actual lap times were better for the Jeep. Perhaps I confused some articles but this is what I recall.

In a straight line, in the summer, the RR will probably have a leg up, maybe. In the winter where the NA Jeep gets a huge boost I believe the Jeep will beat the RR handily.

I've roll raced and 0-60 raced my friend's Audi RS5 more times than I can count and we are close to even. His car is a little faster but most of the time it comes down to the driver.

Regardless, I hate Range Rovers. I forbid my wife to drive one, and would never be caught dead in one. They're one of the many quintessential yuppie cars that every silver spoon dipshit whose daddy got them a job at their friend's company goes out and "buys" after college (pardon run-on). They are also a favorite of the $50k millionaire crowd. Despite what they tell you, the build quality or performance has nothing to do with their purchase. It's all about the image. I know this, because I'm friends with many of these people. Thanks, but no thanks.
