Aux power

Gents,

Am I correct in saying the power outlet in the centre dash cuts power when the car is off?

My last few cars all continued to charge my phone while the car was off. It seems this is not the case with my new SRT.

Is there a workaround? Sometimes I leave my phone charging while I run into stores.

Re: Aux power

Each power outlet cover has an icon which tells whether you need the power on or not for that outlet to work. (I don't know offhand what that outlet cover has on it).

There is a setting for how long accessories remain on after the car is no longer in Run. Maybe you can program that to suit your needs.

Re: Aux power

Thanks. Will check the covers. The length of time power stays on doesn't work in my scenario because as soon as you open your door, it kills the accessories - I believe.

Re: Aux power

not sure on the srt but im guessing its the same as others pop the fuse box under the bonett there is one blade fuse that has two positions switch the blade around and it will power all outlets without the ignition on.

Re: Aux power

Also, I don't know, but it's worth checking into whether the USB port in the console stays live, and/or the 2 rear seat USB ports under the front center armrest. If any of them do, and you can charge your phone via USB, that would be good.

Good to know, but mine came with a hood not a bonett. Please don't give me the boot for saying so.

Post #3 in this thread has a photo that shows a "key" icon for the center console power outlet: Light in the little cubby spot

Re: Aux power

Probably a good idea to read your owner’s manual, it clearly explains all this in the relevant section.

ELECTRICAL POWER OUTLETS
Your vehicle is equipped with 12 Volt (13 Amp) power outlets that can be used to power cellular phones, small electronics and other low powered electrical accessories. The power outlets are labelled with either a “key” or a “battery” symbol to indicate how the outlet is powered. Power outlets labelled with a “key” are powered when the ignition is in the ON or ACC position, while the outlets labelled with a “battery” are connected directly to the battery and powered at all times.

NOTE: The rear power outlet can be switched to “battery” powered all the time by switching the power outlet right rear quarter panel fuse in the fuse panel.

Re: Aux power

Center Cubby 12V plug goes off with car
Center Armrest 12V plug stays on at all times

The fuse F90 for the rear cargo outlet has the ability to be switch into two positions. One to power on/off with the vehicle and one to stay on constant.
