i started using Amor All wheel protectant. i use one can for all four tires. i apply one coat heavy, let dry 1-2 hrs, and then apply a second coat. i can drive almost 100-150 miles city/town with minimal/little break dust. this stuff is amazing. i bought it online at cabela's and saved a significant amount from my local shop.
Yep. Usually I'll have black wheels after about 3-4 days after a wash. With the ArmorAll, I'm going well over a week and while it has some dust, they do look much better than without.
I also tried the armor all product based on the various feedback from this forum. So far it has worked well. Pretty much the same experience as the prior two posts
Actually I find the absolute best way to repel brake dust is to thoroughly clean your wheels, make sure they're completely dry, and apply a fair amount of wax. Apply one to three coats of wax and you should have far better results than the armorall products. Just my two cents from back when I detailed cars.
The one that was talked about in this thread will not hurt chrome. I've used it on chrome myself. Biggest mistake I ever made, dulled the shine, and took FOREVER to remove.
Like I explained, I find if you just spend a little more money and get some wax, you'll be much happier.

Well it doesnt damage them, the stuff just leaves a thin layer of film on top your wheel. (a film that you probably couldnt see with non chrome rims) It smears and looks bad, then eventually when you hate the smear look you try to take the armorall off and thats a very non-enjoyable experiance.
I also replaced the pads in all four corners with Hawk Ceramics. The positives is that they no longer produce break dust in significant amounts. I'd say it cut my dust production by 95-99%. The negatives are increased stopping distances and they squeal like a stuck pig when its cold and you first start driving. To comment on these two negatives. Firstly, while the brakes don't stop nearly as well as the stock pads, they do somewhat smooth out the ride quite a bit. Sometimes when people drive my car they are frustrated by how "grabby" the stock pads can feel. With the Hawks you wont have to worry about that anymore at all. They are very very smooth. Secondly, as to the squealing, that goes away after 2 or 3 break applications. Its usually gone by the time i leave my driveway to work in the morning.
Bottom line: would i buy these pads again? I don't know. I think they are a good pad but i am interested to see what other compounds would feel like. So next time I might try something else just for curiosity's sake.
Hope this helps
