My favorite is when you just wash the rig. It's looking incredible! Turning heads...breaking necks....and then you have to stop Hahahahah ughhhhh

Once you press hard on the pedal the added pressure stops the vibration.

Follow the instructions on the spray can. They often have a wait time between spraying the pads and reinstalling them.

Good luck.

There are also teflon or silicone rubber shims you can put behind the pads to help reduce vibration... the silicone rubber ones work better because of their nonlinear hysteresis, but neither is 100% guaranteed. Some use a high temperature brake specific silicone grease which tends to outlast sprays, particularly in combination with cushioning shims which tends to work better and last longer than either alone.

Some pad squeal is due to gassing, but that tends to be on high performance brakes being used heavily... drilling the pads, rotors, or even slotted rotors helps.

The only sure cure I've ever ran into is ear plugs.

That should go away after a stop or two, unless your wash wedged a !!!!@#$!@#$ pebble or such between the pad and rotor.

so my mechanic and i literally tried everything.... i cut the rotors... re cut them.... sanded them down. sprayed the pads with some break cleaner crap.... still having bad squeal.... it wont squeal the first 2 days after a fresh wash... but after that... it comes back and its there until i wash the car again.

i think after the winter i am going to go back to the brembo pads... i would take brake dust over squeal any day of the week to be honest. plus i ususally wash my car every 2-3 days so dust isnt a major factor.

Thanks for the reply. That sucks that you couldn't eliminate the squealing. Hope I don't have this problem, doing the Hawk ceramic pads this weekend.

ya no problem. i mean i am definitely not going to bad mouth hawk for their pads.... they stop on the dime and thats all that truly matters ahah.. 99% of the people dont have squeal problems with them... im just that lucky 1% hahaha.

i originally got them for the reduced brake dust... but with the way i wash my car... they dont even really have a chance to get dirty.

good luck!

Haha yea I'm usually "that guy" too, the 1% that will have the squeal problem. I'll keep this thread updated, thanks again.

i will tell you one thing though.... i got them from chad at black ops and when i called him and told him about it he was extremely helpful in trying to resolve the issue. it isnt like an OMGGGGGGG squeal... more just enough to be an annoyance....

best of luck and let us know how it works out for you.

Re: Brake Squeal

I'm glad I'm not the only one Dom. I've done everything I can think of and never have eliminated the squeal on mine. Backing the pads with some blue gunk did the best of keeping it down, but they still squeal.

I'm not sure what my next step will be - new rotors probably.

See I thought about doing that as well. But my only problem is that if I do get new rotors I would want the brembo drilled and slotted hahaha which aren't cheap. I'm probably just going back to brembo pads cause I know that didn't squeal and they were good! But hey as long as these things stop when I need them too I really can't complain.
