I opted for the Purolator part from AdvanceAuto for ~$18 due to convenience and the fact we are talking about the cabin air filter and not the engine air filter (where I wouldn't skimp on cost). Mopar part can be had for around $30 online. Part quality between the OEM part I removed and the Purolator part I installed was negligible.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

$30 for a filter that probably cost less than $3 to make...

All sorts of options on eBay under $20 shipped. $9 option at OReilly, MicroGard 4031

Agreed, the air flow is in the other direction. By the time the filter gets it, your AC would have been invaded by the ghoulies.

Thats why FrigiFresh exists.

Understood. The carbon one is:

FRAM CF11183 Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter

I do mine once a year.
Note: don't swap it when it is cold outside or in your garage.
The plastic latch for the little cover is quite brittle around 40 degrees and will snap. If you must change it cold, borrow a hair dryer.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Just ordered mine...thanks for the helpful info. Takes literally 3 mins to take the glove box off and re-install (just checked), so install will be a "breeze"

Been using TYC filters for years now. You can pick them up for around $12.50 inc shipping. I check/change mine out every 6 or 12 months and it takes 5 minutes.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

So I went ahead and picked up a cabin filter. I had issues with my original order with the OEM filter so decided to order a Fram since it had good reviews. Of course they both arrived at the same time. I normally prefer OEM parts over aftermarket but the comparison of these two filter isn't even close. The OEM filter feels like junk compared to this Fram filter. Not only is it twice as thick but the material on the Fram is a lot heavier. My local dealer is asking $40.00 for an OEM filter where Fram was $29.00 on amazon.

Here are a few pictures I took today.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

What about air flow before and after? I think that would hurt the flow being more restrictive

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Confirmed...install requires no tools and takes less than 5 minutes. The stock filter was not as dirty as I thought it would be, but since it was 3 years old I swapped it anyways. Now the A/C is blowin' fresh!
