Cabin Air Filter

Does my 2012 SRT have the cabin air filter behind the glovebox? I can't find one mention of it whatsoever in the manual or the maintenance schedule.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Thank you! I will check it out today. I'm not really sure why it isn't mentioned in the owners manual anywhere, or why the dealer in 4 years has never mentioned it to me either. I replaced my engine air filter yesterday, and it got me thinking about it.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Wow. So I went to the autoparts store this morning and got a cabin filter. After quickly watching the video, and taking your advice about not removing the glovebox, I did the whole thing in the autoparts store parking lot in about 4 minutes. Thanks again. Mine was DISGUSTING after almost 5 years.

How the heck could this not be in the manual or the maintenance schedule? How would anyone even know it's there to change??

Re: Cabin Air Filter

I tend to not run one during the summer so the air condition doesn't have to run through it. But in the winter when the windows are always closed I run it.

No filter? Then you will have dirt clogging your coil and will eventually loose heat transfer, and cooling efficiency

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Am I wrong in thinking that specific filter only filters out particulars that come into the cabin?

You can buy some, such as the Fram fresh breeze, that are carbon impregnated to help reduce odors. The factory filters also are claimed to somewhat reduce odor.

They still stink like stale sweat socks unless you FrigiFresh or equivalent that entire chamber every now and then.

What I meant was that it doesn't "protect" the ac system but it's more of a comfort thing.

Bold move cotton.

try running your Home HVAC without an Air filter.. the evaporator eventually mats with dust which restricts air flow which leads to freezing of the indoor coil and foul smelling. Same principle in car A/C but worse as it's always drawing outside air potentially vs home is not.

Trust me My WJ has no filter from the factory they came this way and it in the fall you turn the blower on and get little bits of Leafs etc blowing at you.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Excellent reminder to do this. Swapped mine out today after nearly three years of service. Easy swap and mine was in need of replacement...pretty nasty.
