combine the bad tired with lack of knowledge of how to drive and failure to use 4LOW and you get such hilarious moments. Nothing wrong with that car or its technology except the tires and its driver.

...and you know this for a fact? provide video proof please....

There seem to be a basic problem with the guy's understanding of purposely built vehicles.

Example. Will my Maserati run circles around a GC SRT, in a real world race, probably!

However today it's snowing in NJ, and my 150K car will not make it out of the driveway. I'm pretty sure it will also fail on sand.

The SRT however will be able to go out today, and with a knowledgable driver could do some light off roading.

Taking a capable off reader like the GC and making it faster and being able to handless high speeds safely will hurt off roading ability.

So when putting some numbers to the mix my 150K maser + my 50K overland will both provide superior solutions to an SRT for 65K at want they are built to do.

But 95% of the time the SRT will be good enough or better and you have spent 140K less.

Besides its time for jeep haters to go elsewhere :-)

Watch the video, Scottie! I believe a WK2 with one of the ORA packages can.

Shame the Wk2 SRT8 doesn't go both ways. Might be a result of the lack of talent at SRT.

Only mod to RR Sport was a skid plate.

SRT should seriously consider the Dakar Rally Raid in 2015. Shame Robbie went over to GM.
That would be a blast to try. I don't think the WK2 would have any issues doing the same thing it would just be a bit slower seeing how it has less power. The RR is a nice SUV that if an owner actually wanted to off road with it can do very well.
There is a good test of the 14 WK2 and the RR in 4 wheel& off road this month doing some not hard core stuff but more than 99% of the owners will do.
They sum it up as the WK2 is like a less refined RR with many of the same features that just don't work as well.
I still love my WK2 and will more than likely never own a RR but that doesn't make the RR a bad ride.

OK

you have a professional driver with a support crew running the RR in an edited bit.

I am no rally driver but I ran a Suzuki SJ10 on dunes bigger than that.

You don't know how many times they got stock, or how many tires they replaced from running on 5 psi.

I'm not saying that the RR is not a descent car, just that you can't judge anything when a professional driver is involved.

A really good rally driver will run circles around us in a dune bug.

Not necessarily.

Both Land Rover , and to a lesser degree Porsche, have managed to create an SUV that is capable in both arenas. So it can be done.

Jeep just decided to not go that route with the WK/WK2 SRTs. If they wanted to, I'm sure Jeep could merge the abilities of an SRT and an Overland into one vehicle (something called an SRTrail perhaps).

I agree that Jeep haters shouldn't bother posting on Jeep specific forums unless that have something to actually contribute.

HOWEVER, I don't think that everyone who criticizes or even complains about what they feel are aspects lacking in a Jeep product should automatically be considered a "Jeep Hater". Not everyone is a "fanboy" of only one product. Some folks have a more open mind and are willing to accept that there could be room for improvement with ANY vehicle currently produced.

BTW, to the OP...

While I doubt the SRT could do what's shown in that video, I'm pretty sure many of the regular WK2 in this forum could!

LOLOL. All bs aside, I went onto youtube this morning and was looking for x5 stuck in the snow (little debate with my friend who has one) and one of the videos was this. Had a good chuckle.

As soon as you realize the guy is just a total loser and don't take anything he says as something coming from anybody who's viewpoint you have any interest in he actually becomes quite funny LOL

Have your fun with him and ban him once you tire of him.

Re: Can your WK2 SRT8 Do this?

2013 Mazda 3 with Winter tires vs Jeep Wrangler with All-Season tires

Pay attention - they'll name the type of tires. Also, the Jeep is Trail Rated (look for the badge). Neither side here has an argument - it goes down to tires. The Range Rover was stuck due to crappy tires; the SRT was so mighty due to winter tires.

Another fun thing to look for on YouTube on the same topic is Torsen differentials and specifically what happens to Torsen differentials when both wheels on the same axle lose traction. For instance, you could google up Audi's stuck in snow...
