Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

I know we have a thread on this already but I wanted to keep it fresh as to this problem. I just washed the SRT and this is what showed up. Hopefully, they will learn this is not what should happen on a $70,000 vehicle. Although it does go away but not sure what the long term effects are.

Re: Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

Yeah I'm not too concerned with this as it goes away. The real problem is the long term effects which are unknown... Don't want yellow/hazy lenses in 5 years...

Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

I was at one of the Jeep dealers in Vegas today and was going to place my order but could not decide on a color; BLACK or DEEP AUBURN????????????

I also started thinking about all of the electrical issues and that also made me stop and think. Then I just decided there is no hurry; I still have a 2006 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi that has never never (knock on wood) given me an ounce of trouble and I'm keeping that for when I go skiing and into the mountains to take photographs. I just want that eco diesel for the long hauls to save gas but still have semi Hemi power. This is what I just sold, had it since it was new and only has 22,000 miles; a Chevy SSR 2006 black, 6.0 LS2, hard top convertable. Just waiting for the transporter. Already been paid. Going to miss it but it's been fun; now for more fun.

By the way I am concerned about the condensation in the head light lenses; it may cause other issues or rust or shorten the life of the light or the housing. I bet the ML350 doesn't have this type of issue.

Re: Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

this is a non issue guys that you are beating like a dead horse. Look at those pics....that's VERY light fog and completely normal. Its October, cool and wet in most parts of the us and Canada. Go out and enjoy these beasts and stop with the nitpicking. Crank the 19 speaker srt audio and quit driving yourself crazy trying to hear, find and see every little thing. Ive never driven my jeep so slow or with the radio off to hear anything like some of you guys are hearing and seeing. One member was hearing a very slight tap when going 2-3 mph over speed bumps while turning right or left. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT? Im a VERY picky person...but come on. LOL...this is meant in jesta dn is not directed at anyone( I not only hear crazy stuff on here but on twitter, email, instagram etc.)....I promise...but good lord folks! ENJOY this mean machines!

It may be a non issue but if I just dropped 70k on a vehicle I wouldn't be happy about it.

Damn, I wouldn't be happy if it was happening on my 30k Laredo, which it is not.

Re: Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

its not an issue...and is completely normal for vented headlights. Now if the get water spots and HEAVY condensation...thats a problem. This is not. JMHO.....Ive been here since the beginning and seen things like this taken to another level. My 13 headlights looked like that the first 2 RAINY, HUMID days I had it....as soon as it warmed up in the garage and the headlights stabilized....it was gone forever.

Call it what you may. In my years on this planet and I've been retired since 2004 so I've had a few vehicles and usually one new one every two or three years and I have never and I mean never had a vehicle with this problem weather it was an import or U.S. built vehicle and if I have this problem with mine it will be sitting in the dealers service area every time. You usually see this kind of problem on older vehicles.

You may be missing the fact that these headlights are vented. Hence the reason for the visible condensation... The projector itself is most likely sealed so no worries there...

I know one thing this is not an issue that will make me consult with my dealer.

@scott I just want to make sure that in the long run we don't see any crappy looking plastic in a few years... I'm 100% sure electrically the design is sound.

Re: Closer Photos of Headlight Condensation

if its water...yes...over years water will discolor the headlights, rust etc. If you see water droplets...take the jeep in.

If anyone wants to swap their faulty, fogged up, vented SRT headlights for my non faulty, unfogging Laredo headlights let me know.

To be honest, My 10 Sahara and this SRT has the same "tap" and it drives me crazy also. I find my self reaching and hold things to find it. One of my cars sunroof shade was a culprit and also my 2000 sport's 4x4 shifter lever was another. I hate when theres anything loose or moving in any of my cars. Just me. I guess years of driving in a van full of tools made me like this. But nothing to make me hate my SRT. I love it. And I never knew the heads were vented. Makes sense now.
