Re: Coming SOON! SRT Dyno Footage!

you SEE the numbers that they want you to SEE. That engine is NOT maxed out like they state.

That formula is a bone of contention between Dyno makers. Put that same Challenger on an eddy current brake dyno and HOLD 6000 RPM and I think you'll see an entirely different result. BTW, all dyno's measure is torque, it's the software that turns it into HP.
^^^ This is $. All you need to know. Why the Chally made the power it does and on this engine dyno you are seeing real crank HP. The Jeep sadly is going to be a pig compared to the Chally though just from the AWD and all the different boxes power has to flow though. Should still be plenty quick but the new 392 really shines in those Challengers Jeep should make 390-400hp at wheels hopefully on nice AWD dyno

FTR: Lot of people dint relize or know but old 6.1 was proven to make 450hp at crank on an enge dyno and through 20% loss calulations. Most of them made 360hp or so at wheels and at 20% loss that 450 at crank. Just so people know so really this new 6.4 makes probably i ballpark of 25+hp more than old motor side by side

May not see it in actual #s as much definitely when driving, the Jeeps not going to have that raw feel throwing you into the seat. There's always more to be had, the trick is doing it in a way that doesn't destroy the longevity and reliability. Manufacturers live by a different set of rules than the aftermarket so I suspect this IS the most you are going to get out of this motor under the "rules" the manufacturer is required to play by.

Is this the most we will see once the ECM is broken and engine builders take a crack at it, of course not, but I would bet that gains past a certain point will mean big dollar engine failures that most people simply aren't willing to risk in their street car

By "proven" do you mean on SRT's dyno or on an engine builder's dyno? If it's not and exact duplicate test then nothing is "proven".

Considering this pulled 475, most certainly within the +- specs allowed for manufacturing and they advertise 470 it's not a huge leap to assume the number they quoted for the 6.1L was similarly close to their observed numbers. What means a jump from 425 to 470 or ~45 HP when you account for production differences, not the 25 you come up with when you compare apples to oranges.

Also, HP is a number, Torque is something you actually use and the 6.4L has a much stronger "area under the curve" which is what your butt will feel on the street.
