Dealer Window Tint ?
As I'm shopping on line for my new 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I'm noticing most every dealer has in the fine print at the bottom of the page:
"Price does not include tax and license, docking fees, window tint, etc."
Are dealers taking it upon themselves to tint windows on new vehicles before they introduce them for sale on their lot or showroom? I ask because most of them I've looked at on line seem to have very dark windows. Much darker than one would think they're shipped from the factory with. I'm not against this, as living in the desert southwest window tint is all but a requirement. I just would like the choice at the time of purchase. Not have it made for me by the dealer to tack on a quick buck, like it or not.
The advantages are not having to shop, and line up a tint job after the purchase. And the fact the dealer would have to provide some type of respectable warranty on the job. The disadvantages would be a most certain higher cost, (like most everything else available from the dealer), and not being able to choose the degree of tint. The latter is important, because in some locales the darkness of the tint is limited by law enforcement. If they feel it's too dark, you can be forced to remove it, or else receive a citation.... Or both.
The reason I haven't asked any dealers this is because I'm not going to be ready to buy until the end of the month. Once I contact them about anything regarding a new vehicle purchase, I know full well I'm going to get bombarded with correspondence and questions. Right now you can't look at any dealers inventory without someone popping up within 15 seconds asking, "May I help you find a new vehicle?"
For you guys that have purchased new Grand Cherokee's, what has your experience been with dealer applied window tinting? If it was dealer installed, what was the cost? A Grand Cherokee has a lot of glass.
