Dealer won't honor Price Protection!!!

Mine finally arrived and my dealer won't honor price protection because he says it's only available if there was a price when ordered and needs specific documentation for Chrysler to honor it. No help from Chrysler customer service either as it has to be dealt with the District Manager. Dealer said he already asked District Manager. Anybody else run into this?

Sounds like your dealer is screwing you.
I think the only requirements were that it was ordered in your name before the date (Aug. 10th). Pretty sure the price protection code is for Chrysler to re-imburse the dealer for selling it for the original, pre August price.

So you ordered it awhile back and they won't honor it?

Milous is right.... I'd pass that and go somewhere else.

If you qualify for the price protection I would contact Chrysler direct to resolve if the dealerships GM or Owner will not honor it.

So the dealer told me they talked to Chrysler and the price protection only protects the vehicles that were ordered once the first price was released. He said they made a mistake with the pricing and quickly raised it within 2 weeks after release. Also, a deposit was never put down when ordered because dealer didn't want any since there was no price when ordering. I guess its just not meant to be. I did drive the vehicle the other day and it was fast, sounded great, and handled great. Thing is the vehicle is for my wife who would be driving it daily and may be little much for her. This combined with all the pricing issues (no price protection/no Affiliate/no incentives) means I'll be passing on the vehicle at this time. Perhaps after the 2014 refresh I will consider again and Affiliate/incentives will apply. Thanks for the great info on this forum as I could not have gone through the process without the updates and info given here. Good luck with your SRT8's! It is an awesome vehicle.

PS. Please post on this forum if you got price protection, when you ordered, and if you put a deposit down. Thanks!

After a couple weeks of emails and phone calls, my order was "officially" place on June 24th with a $1,000 down for a refundable deposit. My dealer actually emailed me before everyone else knew about the price change and told me I was "price protected".

That is what I was thinking, but my dealer said he needed an electronic bill of sale showing when it was ordered and deposit taken. I though the name on the order was enough according to the letter but maybe not.

Won't hurt to repeat it:

To: All Jeep Dealers

Subject: SRT8 Grand Cherokee Pricing Announcement

Reaction to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been overwhelmingly positive. Its unique craftsmanship and superlative powertrain have catapulted it past its closet competition. Our most powerful Jeep ever, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 runs from 0-60MPH in 4.8 seconds with the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 estimated at 470HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain performance is only further complemented with the head-turning racing style and outstanding ride handling attributes. Given this level of performance and style, the value proposition remains extraordinary as compared to European competitors offering products with MSRP’s starting at $85,000.

Dubbed the “Ultimate Performance SUV”, we are committed to exclusivity by restricting our production to exactly 3,800 vehicles for the 2012 model year in the US. We realize demand is likely to exceed this production number but we are serious about protecting the Grand Cherokee SRT8's value in the short and long term. Furthermore, take rates on both the Luxury Group II (AHN) and the benchmark performance of the SRT High Performance Audio system (AJE) from Harman Kardon have remained exceptionally high.

Both options are now automatically included with every order. In addition, the following pricing actions are effective August 10th, the Luxury Group II will have an MSRP of $4,495 and the SRT High Performance Audio system will now have an MSRP of $1,995.

Bona fide sold orders obtained by you prior to August 10th will be price protected provided that:

1. THE CUSTOMER NAME APPEARS ON THE FACTORY ORDER PRIOR TO SHIP DATE (KZ)

2. The vehicle is delivered to the ordering customer within (10) calendar Days after being received by the dealer (X date).

3. The sale is reported to Chrysler Group LLC under the DealerCONNECT system within 2 calendar days of the sale.

You must claim price protection by inserting the price protection program number on the Exception Claim Entry Screen when reporting the sale. Use program number 27EC1.

Good Selling,

Ralph Gilles
President & CEO - SRT Brand and Motorsports

I copy and pasted that letter and sent to my dealer twice. Once on day it was posted here, and second the day of delivery of my vehicle. Within 2hrs my dealer had been on Dealer Connect and looked it up and verified it was legit, no issues, didn't delay me at all.
