No Idea - maybe I've not been close enough to trigger actual hard breaking (I did feel the ABS kick in as I already had my foot on the break peddle)?

One story...

On a 2 lane freeway. Two cars riding side by side blocking traffic. I back way off and wait. A gap opens up with the car in the right lane ahead of the car in the left lane. I floor it as does the car behind me. I have about a 4 car length gap which is ample room to get through. As I'm approaching the car I get some "collision imminent" warning and it slams on the brakes. The car behind me almost rear ends me. Keep in mind it slams on the brakes as I was already transitioning to the left lane. So either car could have rear ended me.

That's pretty hectic .. Glad everything was okay.
