what article was that? the one I read, ford only stated 450hp but hadn't yet released torque figures...

not trying to detract from the OP's situation tho, that sucks.

It was the march 2015 car and driver came in mail yesrerday, blue raptor is on front cover. I didnt read the whole article but the specs they listed cought my eye, sounds like a truck to look for.

should probably move further raptor talk to another thread its getting this one off course from the subject.

Every motor is different and if you head over to the LX boards you can read about guys with low boost blowing ring lands (I think there was even a tracked NA that blew theirs) but 1fst4dr would probably be able to talk to you about this better than myself.

From my estimates, to get me into the 8xxhp range, I will be looking at/around $40k to do so safely.

This is what I've heard from a good reliable source the motors suffer from a ring and Rod problem and from what I'm told it's known and has been for a long time. I heard this almost 3 years ago when the 2012's where released and we where looking into the Twin Turbo build on our 2012 in Nov 2011.

I asked a few insiders back in 2011 what to watch out for to make sure we din't get into something we couldn't handle. For us back then and my customer the budget was not their for the build to be done properly. I felt we needed about 40k min. even more now from what's I'm seeing. Quite frankly I'm glad we din't get into it because here we are almost 4 years later and still no tuning. Seeing what has been going down the Rod and Ring problem is proven true today and I was told this back in late 2011 so my insider was actually dead RIGHT!!!

I said it back in 2011 on the phone with my insider " Well guess we will see NO full tuning on these until every last one is out of Warrantee" look at what year it is now

Honestly the advise I give everyone is if you want power buy and old Jeep since it's cheaper or something else entirely keep it simple and enjoy the Jeep as it is this is not the platform that can be boosted for a long period of time to any level and last forever and sure as hell can't be pushed.

I have heard more horror stories from shops still taking money for things they promise and fall short on every time. This last statement is not directed at Livernoise because their are a lot worse stories out their just better hidden and covered up!! The few that are doing it have deep pockets I know of a few with one being over 100k just in mods to get it over 1000HP and another that have probably 50k in it so yea it can be done just not for a skimpy budget. Let's face it even with no limits of coin no one really even knows if most of these builds will be successful at the end of the day so 40k to do safely not sure I would even say that as at that range the tranny becomes a concern how long will that last and is it even able to be tuned properly not likely.

Well said Chad.

For me to mod my Jeep it would be Underground or Heffner or bust. Both are big bucks. And I'm not part of the Yolo nutswinging crowd who just learned about these companies. I've been following them since they opened their doors. Hopefull in my late 30s I'll be at a point to give them a blank check with instructions "Make it fast!"

Agreed Akon. My buddy has the Heffner twin turbo kit on his Gallardo. Pushing 1150 hp to the wheels, 1500 at the crank. Quality and reliability have been great and he has 15,000 km on the kit and no issues but like you said, big bucks!

I messaged underground a while back and they had "no interest" in working out a TT setup, which is somewhat understandable considering the platforms they do build for.

Re: Done with the SRT - my story

20k with a built trans is decent...

I was looking at over that without touching the transmission.

Im pretty sure you are the one who keyed me in on the lack of tuning despite a major tuning company "having licensed tuning from Mopar"... If you have licensed tuning why do I need to swap in a computer from a 2012 to tune my vehicle?!?

The 5spd was my major reason for getting a '13 and not waiting on the '14. It has been proven to handle high HP.

I have heard from talks from a big aftermarket company that they were going through litigation so that they/the customer can tune the vehicle... whether this sees the light of day or not or if it is successful is yet to be seen.
