I hope not but agree with you. I am still forging ahead with my build, literally. This has turned into a tuning subject and no one, other than a few of us, keep mentioning the mechanical aspect that these motors truly need with any FI.

I feel that many of these guys though are not wanting to spend $12k+ and this is why the RIPP kit has come across so popular, but its a false sense of safety since the same thing can happen with their kit just as it can on anyone else who runs FI on the stock inners...

But therein lies the problem. All of these companies who don't know how to tune these are convincing people that the engines are fragile to ahve a scapegoat when it pops. Is there a hint of truth that they aren't as FI friendly as a 5.7 or 6.1? Yes, but on those you can run 12-13# on the right setup with no issue. There is no reason the 6.4 can't handle 8-9# reliably IF tuned the right way. But that is the problem. Almost everyone is using the same software, the same base tunes, and going to the same 2 or 3 guys for help when they run into an issue and people wonder why everyone except us has this problem.

There is a reason we are cutting our own path with a unique device, and proprietary software. And trust us, it's not because it was easy or cheap...

We see it all the time. Before we entered the ring on many platforms the standard view was they were junk and couldn't be trusted:

GM 6L80 trans tuning
Ford 5R55 Trans tuning
Ford Coyote engine tuning (specifically the #8 issue)
EcoBoost Ford Tuning
Ford 6R80 Trans tuning
GM DI Turbo engines

People would burn up these cars/components all of the time until we came onto the scene to show them they were being hoodwinked by their tuners of choice. Now we just want to enlighten the 6.4 community as well

Thats what stings worse... that there are automotive companies that are willing to work with tuners and such, but there is really no support from mopar. From what I can recall, the Neon SRT4 has been really the one Mopar vehicle that was supported tuning wise from the factory.

Don't kid yourself about Audi...read up on TD1. There is no such thing as a warranty-covered APR tuned 700HP+ RS7 (unless you carefully reflash fully to stock prior to bringing it in, or you have a very cooperative dealer). However, accept that many buyers of $130K cars also don't really care if the warranty is voided.

Re: Done with the SRT - my story

Pictures I have thus far, any more won't be until the engine itself comes out as I don't have a bore scope to send inside...
Lower manifold, nice chunk of piston (I'm assuming) burped up:

Intake above the hole in the block (forgive me on not knowing the firing order off hand for the Hemi, but 2nd from the rear):

Yea, that's not good:

And the 2nd from the front on the passenger side:

Here she sits, until I figure out which direction to go in fixing it:

Aside from the pinned crank and the cut line to the fuel pump, or the ECU counters, don't mind those!

Re: Done with the SRT - my story

It can happen with any manufacturer. I'm on my second F150 and there are similar stories with guys that have blown engines after a tune with their F150's.

I think the GC SRT is a beast, but the stock engine would be more than enough for my driving style.

Yeah doubt it. My dash leather is bubbling near my defrost vent and I'm fighting them over that!

Re: Done with the SRT - my story

If he did, he either knows the dealer and is calling in a favor or he paid them off. No way SRT replaced a motor and didn't check it out.
