Don't Buy An New SRT8! Jeep Customer Care Doesn't Care

I ordered a new GC SRT8 August 26, 2011. The vehicle came two weeks ago. When I inspected it I noticed three large paint blotches on three of the body panels. The dealer agreed the paint was defective.

Jeep sent the area rep down he agreed the paint was defective. He won't approve a replacement, instead he ordered the three defective body panels repainted. The car was back at the dealer yesterday and the repaint had bubbles in it.

I told Jeep Customer service I really want a Jeep SRT8 but not a new vehicle that has been repainted with a defective paint. job I asked them to allow me to reorder the same Jeep at the same price. Jeep Customer Care gave me the answer today, NO!

With such poor quality control and a take it or leave it for a devalued repainted specialty vehicle (I spoke to three car dealers and all said I will take at least a 10% extra loss when I resell ) why would anyone want to to buy a $60,000+ Jeep?

I appreciate this forum and tracking service. It is too bad Jeep would not take responsibility for allowing its top of the line vehicle to pass QC with three paint defects . It is now the dealers problem as I am moving on.

Potential Jeep GCSRT8 buyers should know Jeep expects customers to accept a vehicle with defects.

Did you already buy the SRT8? I'm not understanding. You ordered it and when it came in you noticed problems I see that but did you take delivery and sign for it? Is it your jeep? If not then how can they stop you from ordering another one?

He won't get the cheaper price for the SRT. We are talking about a $4K (I think) price bump if he ordered another Jeep

I am willing to reorder but I would expect the same price and the dealer said they could not without Jeep's approval. The blame is completely on Jeep Quality Control, why should I need to pay for their screw up?

I totally agree with you. I think the way they have treated you is disgusting. Why should you get stuck with a vehicle with paint like that? And why should your brand new truck have repainted panels? Gtfo. the way chrysler treats their customers is horrendous. I had an issue with my wheels peeling when the jeep was 3 months old and they told me to basically **** off. Disgusting customer service.

Thats just a F'n crying shame man... sorry about your story... you spend that kind of money on ANY vehicle that shit better come in 100% TIGHT... no excuses!

If he ordered on August 26th the vehicle price should be current (I completely understand the difficulty involved if the order was price protected but this doesn't appear to be the case). There appears to be a better supply of SRT's available now, he should be able to find another at a good price. It stinks they won't do anything on the one he ordered but walking away is the right move.
