Don't sell the truck..race it instead..very impressed 11.876

As some of you know...I put my truck for sale on the forum last week. Don't need or want to sell it just don't get to drive it much. Today I said you know what...you pay for it..enjoy it..let's pack up the family and head to the track. So that's what I did. Grabbed the wife and my son and off to Atco raceway we went. I haven't been to the track in two years since my last car which was a ctsv. Really wanted to see what the Jeep could do considering my 0-60 are consistently 3.4-3.5 since adding the Ripp supercharger setup and I have never been able to stay in it long enough to register a 1/4 mile time on the evic. Well here's the result. Very impressed. First run after hour drive to the track and only 10 min cool down in staging lanes went 12.003 @ 113.36. Let the truck sit for about an hour and followed up with 4 more runs 11.955 @ 113.75, 11.981 @ 113.41, 11.968 @ 114.17, and finished it off with an impressive 11.876 @ 113.96. According to the evic first three runs were 3.5 0-60 and last two were 3.4. All 1/4 mile times were .1 (one tenth) off of the time slip and the evic was actually saying the truck was a tenth slower than the time slip did(maybe it rounds up the hundredths). All runs were with launch control engaged and dialed to 2500rpm. Very pleased with the quickness and consistency of the runs.

Reaction time has zero to do with ET. You can have a ten minute reaction time but once you break the beams it when you begin being timed.

Mike awesome runs. Well into the 11's! Congrats. Bad as 60' too. Two questions, one did you deep stage on any runs, and two what was the temp outside? Great runs again. Don't sell that bad boy! Jim

Awdbeast is right. Reaction time means nothing unless your racing against someone. Being slow off the line against a comparable car can have you sitting still when he's already left. However I was only looking to puy down my best time so wether I had a good reaction, bad or even redlighted...the clock doesn't start til I cross the beam. Regardless thanks for post...and your right. Only SUV at the track and surprised everyone who watched it run

Thanks man. I was stoked to start with a 12 flat and only get better. I didn't deep stage any of the runs. I was so occupied with setting up launch control and dialing up rpms that I didn't even think about. A lot has to happen in that quick second once your staged..lol. Temp was 50 degrees with light wind. Don't know much about DA but I put the numbers in a DA calculator and came back DA was -495 which I'm told is ideal. Also said corrected DA time would be exactly the same but truck would have gone .01mph faster on the 11.876 run.

Re: Don't sell the truck..race it instead..very impressed 11.876

That's a decent da. Atco can go to negative 2500 sometimes lol. You'd probably run an 11.5! Did you paddle shift on any runs. I wish I knew how to dial up the launch when I was there. Only could leave at 2000rpm which I think is the default setting. I agree it's a lot to be screwing around with when you pull up to the beams. Actually surprised your reaction time wasn't 30 seconds haha.

Let me get this straight. Can you set the launch rpms prior to pulling up,to the line. Say in the staging lanes one or two cars before its your turn? Will it remember you setting? That would be nice if so. I think once the run is aborted it'll go back to 2k.

Any reason you didn't try the max 3200 launch? Wheels spin?

Awesome run. Great color too

I didn't paddle shift any of the runs. After the first run and watching where it shifted by itself...it was already in the redline area. If I tried to push it any further I would have only hit the rev limiter using the paddle shifters. As far as launch control goes..I set it each time as soon as I staged at the tree. By the time I activated launch control, held the button and started rotating the dial the lights were already dropping. Only left me a split second to mash the go pedal to the floor release the brake and hold on tight. If there were more time I would have probably taken it to the max 3200rpms but like you I'm not sure if you can preset it a car or two before the run or if once you start moving it resets back to the 2k default. Another fear was setting it to early and the guy next to me taking to long to stage and having it fall on its face in limp mode off the line. Don't know if you have ever done that at a traffic light waiting for it to change while in launch control but it's quite embarrassing. Truck can't get out of its own way for the first couple hundred feet. Lol

CTSV was a stick shift with pulley and tune. Best I went with it was 11.95 on drag radials. Could never manage to get the car to hook. Had so much more in it. Most of my runs were low 12's but with 1.8-1.9 60ft and at 117-118mph so should have been a half a second or more faster...if only I could launch it. That's the beauty of the jeep. No traction issues. Gas and go.
