Alright,

Calling JeepCares!
I could deal with the slight bubbles at the Vents BUT now it has spread to the Gauge cluster.:slapfight:

What can be done for this. I've read some threads where dealer just takes pictures submits it to Chrysler and they say Yes cover under maxcare deductible or we Split it with you etc?

got 76k miles.

I do have decent relationship with my dealer.

Anybody had to pay out of pocket and what it cost?

Or anybody know someone I can call if dealer rejects etc.

Thanks.

I called the SRT hotline, they said pictures need to be taken and dealer send to FCA and review before being approved or denied. If they deny it ill escalate further.

Maybe Scott or Milous Can help a brother out

I'm not asking for a free dash I am asking to make a deal or pay the deductible of my Maxcare.

This looks like a $1500-2000 fix. If i have to out of pocket it.

I have 50% ceramic full windshield tint also, So it has to be an issue with the materials used.

I am headed to dealer now to see what the case is.

Sad this happening to a 65k SUV

Hey xJoshxx,

I know in a later post you stated you had already called the SRT Customer Care line. If your case is not resolved to your satisfaction, let me know.

Kori,

Dealer told me I am past the 3/36 and that they would submit it for review anyway and let me know, Dealer was Zimmer Motors In Florence KY.

I am not getting any satisfaction. Jeep wants me to pay $ 2,200 and they will pay $ 1,500 to replace the entire dash. Why? I did not cause the problem. It's their fault as you can see from all the people having this problem. We paid dang near 60K for this vehicle & with 27K miles and 21 days out of warranty we should have to pay to have their problem fixed? No way I am doing that & I told them that and to come back with a better offer. we will see what they say.

I hope so I wont hear anything back till next week more than likely. I provided my Contact info and vin to Jeepcares. I called SRT hotline and told them what dealer inspected it and the warranty guy.

Funny you can see my daughters recaro cart seat in the mirror haha

In my humble opinion, this damage was most likely caused by the intense heat generated by direct sunlight, which probably caused the underlying glue to overheat (cook), soften, and form bubbles; as well as causing the vinyl itself to repeatedly expand and contract over time.

In the OP's case, the damage has occurred, and I do not know anything about how to fix it, but I do have a couple of suggestions as to how to help prevent this sort of damage from happening in the first place…

1) First and foremost, get in the habit of using a highly reflective windshield and dashboard sun shade whenever the vehicle is parked outdoors under direct sunlight, even in the winter, but especially during the warmer months of the year. They fold up accordion-like when not in use; they are inexpensive and are widely available in a variety of sizes to fit your vehicle.

2) When detailing the interior of the vehicle (particularly vinyl), avoid products such as Armor All because they contain silicone which will actually cause desiccation and shrinkage over time, particularly when combined with the harsh effects of direct sunlight and heat. Instead, I highly recommend Zaino's Leather In a Bottle treatment and conditioner for leather and vinyl. It contains "Ultra-Gard" UV sunscreen shield and helps to prevent cracking, drying, shrinkage, and so on. It also smells like new leather. What's not to love? Visit zainostore.com.

Excellent advice!

One note: the SRT dash is leather, not vinyl. Someone please correct me if that's not the case.

I might also add:

3) Whenever possible in the summer, leave your windows open slightly to allow interior of the car to "breathe." That will also help to lessen the cooking effect. Windshield shade is much more effective, but I admit too much trouble for me to use on a daily basis....

Jeep likely used cheap and improperly tested adhesive, just like the falling off fender flares. Dashes falling apart in the sun was concurred years ago by manufacturers. My last two cars sat unprotected in the sun for 10 years and the dashes were just fine, no issues. I can see I too have a small bubble forming after 3 years on this GC dash which will likely get worse. No vehicle lasts forever but you should not see this type stuff after as short a time as three years even if you were to park in the desert round the clock.

Update!!

All I can say is that I bow to Kori from JeepCares, without her I entirely believe my dealer would of blown me off completely which they did initially.:slapfight:

Kori managed to wrestle with them and got them to agree to a Good Faith Repair at the cost of my Maxcare deductible!
SRT will be going in for repair in about 2 weeks, Ill be sure to post results! :jump:

Again i don't believe this would of happened without having Kori!

2015 Overland
Bought with defect in left a pillar area, was marked down 10,000 with 7200 miles so I took a gamble and let the dealer repair after I bought it. Replacement went well , only found one clip between the seats after the job was finished. After three weeks of wife driving car and saying windshield fogs on outside with a/c on. I check it out, floor air doesn't blow, panel air leaks into defrost vent. Make another appointment ,tech admits missing a plug for servo control all is good now. Also outside air temp took a while to reboot after 4 miles it started sensing correct temp. So check everything out after this repair.
Good Day

WE do pretty much everything you have said in your reply. Use sunshade, use Adams Polishes for interior care, keep windows cracked etc. My wife is a teacher so not out in the sun in the summertime & usually in the garage all day and all night. So, I doubt hot sunlight caused this. We take very good care of our cars and the sunshades I have are custom made from Autoanything.com to fit our exact cars. From all the problems I have seen with a lot of people it is a Jeep defect from 2011-2014. I also use some products from Garoit's garage!

I fought with them quite a while. Ours was out of warranty by 20 days. Dealer says entire dash needs to be replaced at a total cost of $ 4,400.00+ They said it was all our cost. After fighting, threatning them etc they came back with a final offer that We will pay $ 1,300.00 co pay. I said Ok deal!

I just had mine replaced under warranty. They scratched the piss out of 5 different trim panels installing it as they entire dash has to be removed. Going back this week to have those replaced. The service manager got pissy about it after i told him about it and said these will have to be paid for by them and he would not replace them again. Said they never go back togerther like at the factory. And on top of that, the new dash has scratches on it.

Already have Ford on my never to buy from again list. Looks like Jeep is getting added. No excuse to use such poor materials, have poor QC, and their service departments who damage the vehicles more then when it came in.

Yea, but mine is garage-kept, has a solar shade whenever it is in a parking lot, and it is still coming up. You can try to mitigate, but there is obviously a problem with the adhesive they are using and it is breaking down.
