Hello all,

Re: Dumb question... is it SRT or SRT8?

I STAND CORRECTED! SRT8 = WK1 & 2 up to 2013, SRT = WK2 2014-2017

I knew the 8 was dropped, thought it was earlier!

SRT8 was used through 2013, dropped the 8 on 2014 model years.

Incorrect, our 2012 came with the SRT8 badging, as did 2013 model years.

Re: Dumb question... is it SRT or SRT8?

2013 could be had with an SRT8 badge in Red or Black for the Alpine and Vapor models...

I personally think the srt8 sounds cool. But I'm fine with just an SRT!

Re: Dumb question... is it SRT or SRT8?

I always liked it better with the numbers but then again, at one point in time I had an SRT-4, SRT-6 and an SRT-8 all in my garage at the same time...

Makes sense,,, S4, S6, S8, M3, M5, M6, C63, E63, S63

Helps identify the model to some extent.

Re: Dumb question... is it SRT or SRT8?

The reason I heard for dropping the 8 was that it may not be an 8 cylinder in the future? Turbo/Supercharged V6? That was a long time ago and didn't materialize.

That would suck. I love the sound of the V8!

Don't worry maybe they'll play it BMW style and feed in V8 sounds via the audio system..

Re: Dumb question... is it SRT or SRT8?

unfortunately, there is simply no arguable position on IF V8's will remain, it is simply WHEN they give way to hyper TTV6's, etc....some will remain for a time in certain limited applications/platforms but engine tech and weight reduction will simply make a V8 overkill technically and increasingly impossible to design in....I would be shocked to see nary a V8 in any vehicle in 10 years, likely sooner.....4ell, the Ford Fusion Sport now has the F-150 Twin Turbo V6 with 325hp/380ftlbs output and that's in a 4,000 pound pig AWD body (sound familiar ?)...once the next wave of real weight reductions happen over the next few years only a TTV6 will be needed for hefty propulsion....grab your V8's while you can folks....your kids won't know what they are....
