Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

I was reading the other day from Drivesrt.com:

"The even application of throttle during cruising tells the system that it can knock out four cylinders and start saving fuel. Each time the system activates, the same four cylinders are shut off. To keep the driver informed when the system is operating, an “Eco Lamp” is illuminated on the cluster."

Fuel Saver Technology minimizes consumption, but does not hinder performance. : driveSRT News

I personally have never seen the "Eco Lamp" illuminate on my cluster, has anyone on here?

I don't think anyone else has either. Check the latest revision of the owners manual.

Original OM indicated there was an ECO light for 4-banger mode. I'd like to have one
mainly to play with to see if adjusting driving style a tad could help keep it in 4 mode
without annoying other drivers.

I wonder why they took it out? Too many folks blaming everything from drone noise to the heartbreak of psoriasis on being in 4 cylinder mode?

Re: Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

The light came on in the cluster on my 2012. I have yet to see it anywhere on my 2014, but I do hear it kick in.

Re: Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

The article was posted in August 2013, and the 2014's were well into production by that point. Very misleading, and the article should be taken down. Just my two cents.

Re: Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

I think the general consensus is that it was there on the 12's-13's (the light) but not on the 14's

Re: Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

While "stuck" in moderate traffic for quite a long stretch, I started to play around with ACC and MPG, resetting average MPG once in a while. The most surprising result was when the traffic was traveling between 48 - 54 MPH - the EVIC (both average and current) reported 28 MPG! This was about 5 miles of mostly flat road. I suspect that only 4 cylinders were firing, but still.....

However, once the traffic thinned, and the speed went to 75+, the MPG hovered around 17 LOL.

I didn't look for the eco light, but I did hear the switch to and from 4 cylinders - accompanied by a significant change in MPG.

Note, I have a 2014 Jeep WK2 SRT.

In spite of when the article was posted, their information could have come from old documentation. Not all writers actually check out everything they write about.

I had an issue with a feature that was in owner's manuals 1-5. To fix the problem they deleted it from version 6 or 7.

Re: Eco Lamp when in Fuel Saver Mode?

Yes they have a history of having information which is incorrect or out of date. For example, in Oz our brochures stated Voice activated Nav was available when in fact it isn't.

As for the Eco thing, perhaps you need to turn on the Eco mode for the light to work when its active?
