Engine break in

I'm picking my new 2016 SRT up today ... What's the best engine break in procedure ? There seems to be 2 schools of thought ... Slow and steady or like you stole it ...

Re: Engine break in

LOL... how about like they tell you to do it in the owners manual?

Re: Engine break in

Yeah, but when a warranty issue pops up, what's in the manual is what counts.

Just curious what did they say to do? I followed the manuals occasional bursts of full throttle acceleration and otherwise normal driving recomendation and so far so good and no noticeable oil use between oil changes at 33k but of course time will tell.

Synthetic oiled motors still need some light break-in and heat cycles for things find their long-term seat and should not be "slammed" to it IMHO, be patient for first month and folow the manual.

Agreed. In all the new cars that I've purchased over the years (Ford, VW, Honda x 5 & Jeep x 2) I have always followed what the manufacturer recommends in the Owners Manual. It's worked for me.

But remember, once broken in that "respect" means "drive me like the SRT that I am"
