Engine hot to touch normal?

When I went to install my catch can on my 2014 SRT I noticed that my engine was hot, even after sitting overnight. I found the exact area and took a picture. I circled the hottest part on the engine. Is this normal?

How long was it sitting? If it were a full overnight cold soak (8-10 hours) it should be stone cold (at ambient temp). Nothing should be hot to the touch at that point. Hmm...are you sure the remote start wasn't activated at some point and then it shut off after 15 mins, sometime before you felt it?

I called the SRT hotline and emailed them the picture and they said it would be normal to be warm even after 8 hours. I am going to check it again in the morning.

Geez...that would be a first. I've never seen an engine stay hot after 8 hours...that kind of goes in the face of thermodynamics. That engine bay isn't that insulated...

mine too. I pop the hood when parked at home and put a couple of fans on it.
speaking of hot, what's your oil temp normally run.
mine gets around 230. that just seems hot to me.

This is an SRT, so maybe it is like a cow chewing cud...
maybe overnight is when it finishes digesting the remains of Porsches, BMWs, etc.

After resting overnight and digesting all the vehicle's it chewed up throughout the day, I am happy to report that the area of concern was not hot.
