According to the 4th paragraph of this article : 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT - Anger Issues it says that :
....Selecting this (track mode) most aggressive of driving modes changes the damper settings to full firm, opens exhaust flapper valves for a throatier sound....
Is this true ? Do exhaust flapper valves open for a throatier sound in Track Mode ?

Not true at all. The exhaust flaps are mechanical not electronic. They open based upon exhaust pressure not due to the SelecTrack selection. That is not to say that in Track Mode the exhaust pressure may be higher which keeps the flaps open more often than not.

I have a feeling in the future we will see electronic valves in the exhaust that will change position and sound based on mode selection.

I know we're talking apples to oranges, but I do believe if you select track mode on the Hellcat Challenger, it opens the exhaust valves for the throatier sound.
Correct I believe they have electronic valves...

Our jeep exhaust "flaps" look like shite, DarkHues, if u take a quick look under your car u will see that they are worth about 2cents, and are spring loaded, and will only open up with increased exhaust pressure. There are zero cables to electronically open up the valves. They are the weirdest things which make little sense to me. I'm certainly no engineer, but they look to be about as helpful as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition.

Although they are a simple mechanically operated exhaust flap. There has been numerous exhaust professionals who have said they are of superb quality.
