Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

from my experience with my MVP MaxCare Lifetime on my '14 Summit Hemi that was an official lemon law repurchase and my '15 SRT that was a CPO purchase and also with a MVP MaxCare Lifetime this is what I found...

true but it's 100% same coverage on "stuff". dealer cost was $150 lower on my 22k CPO and that's what I got it for, $2,695/$100 deduct.

According to the MVP customer service no SRT (FCA etal) of any flavor, vintage, brand or situation (CPO included) can get a Lifetime plan effective 6/1/16. If someone writes it MVP will reject it upon submission and refund the customer their money.

All normal MVP plans are available thru 4/48, after that u have to go third party.

...leather dash bubbles near vents
...carbon fiber trim delam/curl/gaps
...hood leading edge bubbles (under lip) although this should be covered under corrosion warranty if dealer doesn't pull the technical "not a hole"...best to get it documented while in bumptobump
...fender flares separating from body
...general paint flaws (runs, heavy debris flecks)
...premature seat leather wear (not that common)
...burnt (shows as blue) DRL bulb within headlight assly ($2-3k repair per side)

hopefully you have no issues to sort out but wanted to be sure you had a sense of urgency on shaking down your SRT before 36k...

also, the one online dealer link above is great and so are:

Chrysler Extended Warranty | Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep extended maintenance plans

and

Genuine Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty - Save $$ Today (call Bob Cline to do this deal as he can save you $100 ish or so more)
At the dealer he did say bumper-to-bumper 7/100k maximum care, but I actually believe you more than the dealer as 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper and the other 7/100k is more of a major issues coverage.

So far I don't have any issues that you stated during the 300 miles I have driven, however my driver seat is little bit worn as you can see by the image. Should I say something to them about it or is it norm?

Don't get me wrong, the MaxCare is pretty close to bumper to bumper and very comprehensive so many sales folk are lured into calling btb but since you are truly still in btb coverage I wanted to be sure you knew there was a difference.

That is totally normal wear...the best way to protect that is the vacuum out the creases very regularly...dirt you can't see in those crevices is like sandpaper grit and it will saw thru the hyde prematurely if you never vacuum the leather creases.

That's great no real issues...also, even though the other stuff like trans clunks, etc are covered under an extended service plan (depending on plan) it does cost you a deductible so listen hard and keep the stereo off to identify any before 36k so you can avoid a deductible.

Oh and don't forget...to drive it like you stole it!

Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

Cool, so all-in-all I'll just have to cancel what I have right now and get me warranty from Chrylerwarrantys.com which will save me $650+$180 promo code = $830

Thanks all

Exactly. It starts/ends from the date your SRT was activated, then you just add the total from that original date.

Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

I had added care on one of my WK2's and the blower motor started making this humming sound while on setting one and it was annoying. I took it to the dealership with 48k and they told me diagnostics for the blower was $279 and if it was the blower then it would be covered under added care. If it was a resistor or something other than the blower then I would have had to pay the $279 and they wanted me to sign off on it before they started. It was the blower and it was just my $50 deductible and they also fixed the rear passengers door lock motor that failed, also covered under the one $50 deductible since it was one work order. If I took it separately, it would of been $100 paid in deductibles. Also, if I had Max care then the diagnostic charges would have been covered 100% and I wouldn't of had to sign off for the work for the blower motor. I would do Max care and Yes the dealership does make $ on the warranty so the price is higher.
I just bought my 14 with 26,200 that had all the recalls done and documented services. However at 29,500 she went to the dealership last week with a laundry list. I'm also having the black chrome wheels looked at bc of flaking. As I said, I wouldn't own one without a warranty, so get all the important stuff looked at asap and get it covered.
These Jeeps always have some weird issue. Here's my laundry list: Everything has been covered.

Excellent points on the diagnostic fees and heads up to go with a long list vs 1 problem, 1 visit to get the most out of one deductible...

Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

I got the Max care 8/120k for my 2015. My understanding is that you can add Max Care at any time while the factory warranty is still active. It goes up in price slightly after the vehicle has been in service for 1 year.

I called a ton of places and visited all of the websites. The cheapest I found the 8 year 120k w/ $100 deductible was $2500 from a Chrysler/Jeep dealer in Michigan...slightly cheaper if you pay with check rather than credit. I've seen some sites get picky about posting info for people that are not vendors, so PM me if you want the contact info. If you bought yours direct from the dealer when you bought the car, I guarantee you can shop around and do better. The dealer that I bought my SRT from wasn't even in the same neighborhood for price.

I had the same question about whether the warranty was worth it. For me, there were 2 key things that had me decide to get the warranty. First, I wanted to actually drive the car hard and enjoy it. While some of the trim isn't necessarily covered (some have had luck getting good faith coverage for some trim items), the drive train and other major components are covered. It's a performance machine and I want to drive it like I stole it rather than baby it. Second, there are tons of electronics and if just one item goes out (head unit, seat heater/fan), the warranty already pays for itself.

In general warranties aren't supposed to pay off or the companies wouldn't make money on them. However, when you are talking about a high end performance vehicle, having a little peace of mind is worth it IMO.

Very Nice.

While we're on this subject. The 14 SRT that I have was leased by the first owner and I can tell he didn't take care of the outside of the car, especially wheels\calipers. I attached some pictures of them chipping and apparently clear coat is coming off. I thought they were power coated at first due to that they are from Brembo, but it looks like they were just painted. This is only for the front 2 calipers, the rear look like new.

Would any of you say they are still under Factory warranty and dealer should take a look at them or get them replaced? I really don't want them just paint clear coat on them, I can do that myself with deep cleaning and spray paint with high temp clear coat, but why do that if maybe it's still covered.

Any ideas?
