Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

Hello all,

Got 14 SRT just 2 weeks ago and have question on extra warranty. Jeep dealer added extra warranty to the papers I signed. So, basically it still has factory warranty and on top of that, they gave me Maximum care warranty.

Extra Warranty info:
7year/100,000miles Certified Maximum Care (Bumper-to-Bumper) for $3,350 from date of purchase.

Is it worth it or should I cancel it?
I have 60 days to cancel for FULL refund.

Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

I personally won't own a Jeep without one, only exception will be this SRT bc I'm adding a Whipple. I think that's a pretty decent price unless there is a deductible. Do you have a deductible?

Yes, it's $100 deductible.

Re: Extra Warranty. Is it worth it?

You can get a better deal from Zeigler or Chrylerwarrantys.com
I was going to purchase a 84 month 100k max care with $50 deductible for $3100 from Chryslerswarrantys

Unless you just bought a new '14 ...

It is not from date of purchase. It is from the date the Jeep was first put into service.

I don't get the $50 deductible, probably because of the state I live in (Kentucky)

But, you're right it is still cheaper to buy it separately. $100 deductible, 7/100,000 = $2,700 Maximum care is what I get. So, looks like dealer jacked up the price.

Another question, what would you all recommend, Maximum Care or something less and how long (72mo, 84mo, etc)?

My 14 SRT has 33,550 miles on it.

Congrats!

Very important nit detail here....you previously mentioned the extended service plan (not warranty) was "bumper to bumper"....technically, not correct in the sense that a "real" bumper to bumper is what you have on yours now (until 3yr/36k) and the difference is that ONLY the factory 3yr/36k bumper to bumper really is that, EVERYTHING, except the obvious brakes, blah, blah...this is called the 'adjustment" period and your only chance to get any and all interior/exterior fit and finish issues (paint, trim, upholstery) resolved under true factory warranty....not even Max care covers this stuff so you only have 2,450 miles to get any concerns there fixed on FCA's dime....the more common ones are:

...leather dash bubbles near vents
...carbon fiber trim delam/curl/gaps
...hood leading edge bubbles (under lip) although this should be covered under corrosion warranty if dealer doesn't pull the technical "not a hole"...best to get it documented while in bumptobump
...fender flares separating from body
...general paint flaws (runs, heavy debris flecks)
...premature seat leather wear (not that common)
...burnt (shows as blue) DRL bulb within headlight assly ($2-3k repair per side)

hopefully you have no issues to sort out but wanted to be sure you had a sense of urgency on shaking down your SRT before 36k...

also, the one online dealer link above is great and so are:

Chrysler Extended Warranty | Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep extended maintenance plans

and

Genuine Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty - Save $$ Today (call Bob Cline to do this deal as he can save you $100 ish or so more)

From what I understand, Certifies Pre Owned warranties can only be purchased on date of sale of vehicle.

Double check with Mopar before you cancel and try going elsewhere for a potential better price.

Mine does say 7/100 Certified Maximum Care. Would you know if there is difference from Certified Maximum Care and the one if I were to buy from Chrylerwarrantys.com ? To me both appear to be the same.

Depending on the year and miles you can get a CPO Maxicar which is a little cheaper because the power train is already covered for the 7/100. Some CPOs still qualify for the lifetime. For older or more miles then you can get a 2yr/24k through 4/48 from time of used car purchase.
