Gotta ditch these Shreik Ears Ugly Tips!

I went to my local exhaust guru who has done great work for me in the past to rplace these FUGLY exhaust tips...he measured the in/out dimensions needed

1) 2.5" in / no longer than 8"

2) 3.0" in / no longer than 5"

The crux of the problem is the tip size needed is 5.0" in diameter any smaller and the tip will look too small in a space that is almost 6.5" wide as it is back there.

The fugly tips are 5.5" wide w/ a taper so a 5.0" would fit well I think?

Sum it up you can find the in / out dimensions by the hundreds BUT NOT the 5" diameter. I've found many 4" tips but too small in my opinion?

My goal is to get enough of us looking around and post-up pics and solutions for those of us who want to replace these fugly tips.

I completely agree that they are hideous, possibly the worst 'feature' of the new one.

I think I saw on the other forum are weld points that prevent a nice long large tip too, did you look at that?

Yes we did and you have not got much option choices using the stock mufflers, again the muffler man 20 years experience gave me the 2 sizes I indicated as what you have to get to.

A 4' tip is too small, finding 5' with those 2 sizes/lengths is like finding a needle in a haystack....

Hopefully people will chime in with some solutions?

Keep us posted, I'd love to swap out those tips. I'm not totally convinced yet that the 4" would look that bad.....have to think about it and stare at the 4" tip pic.

Re: Gotta ditch these Shreik Ears Ugly Tips!

I have 5" x 8" tips. You'll also need room to reduce the 4" inlet down to 3". With the reducer there just shy of 10" long.
But I have an SRT rear end and no spare tire to get in the way.

They're hard to find because they're commonly for diesel trucks, and they have plenty of room so they're usually 12" long. Or more.

Re: Gotta ditch these Shreik Ears Ugly Tips!

Hey C-Money...I've been making 2.75" inlet and 3" inlet tips that overall length is at a minimum of 7" or up to 9". There is about 2" of material that you can cut off to match the desired protusion from the rear bumper.
We'd have to rework the tips to work with the 2.5" inlet, but you listed it also as a 3" inlet.
Are both tips different inlet sizes?

No it's either / or.... both options / size inlets can work the tip has to be at least 5'' in diameter it's a large space back there any smaller will screw up the visual aspect this is a beast of a Jeep bold visual ques it needs 5'' tips to compliment the bold look smaller would look sissy... that's why they put 5.5'' actually 5 & 3/4 inch back there.

But god almighty these stock tips look like crap. I'm going to call Ron Arlasky at ZOOMERS exhaust and see if he can do something, he has done work for me in the past, he built my exhaust for my 06 Magnum SRT8.

Re: Gotta ditch these Shreik Ears Ugly Tips!

Mr. Jason,
How can it be either size? What size is the exhuast before the tips? Stock Wk SRT8 is 2.75 OD. I thought they had 4.5 on the rear of the '12. Either way, I agree that the shrek ears look horrible.
If you want to give mine a try, just let me know.
