Re: Grand Cherokee SRT offer...

I just bought a 15 SRT (should be here this week as I ordered it with all options except rear entertainment and no Red Vapor as I could not do the red inserts in the seats) and was able to get $675 under invoice and I felt I got all that was there. I pitted two local dealers against each other and was able to get this near me which also was a savings on tax difference.

I am agreement with the others above that you will not get this vehicle much under what I just paid right now...my 2 cents!

Good luck!

Ron

I like the SRT, not in love with it but I like it...a bit terrified about the long term reliability (this should be a 4-5 years car to trade below 90.000 miles)

The engine and transmission are a blast and the car drives surprisingly well, I like the practicality and the space.
Fit and finish is not totally at the level I'm comfortable with, the suede headliner and the leather wrapped dash are nice touches but there is a bit too much real estate of hard plastic...nothing against hard plastic per se but the one used on the GC is very ordinary and it does nor belong to a 70K car.

We hate the Cayenne with a vengeance and while the ML and X5 have better fit and finish than the GC, they do not look any better.

Frankly, if Infiniti did not make the asinine decision of dropping the V8 engine option from the FX70 we would not have this conversation....that is IMHO the best looking SUV on the market, despite the age. Another shocking thing is the FX70 does not have a blind spot detection!! Can you believe that?? It has all the tech you can imagine but no blind spot detection (where our Q50 Sport has it!!!). The car visibility is mediocre at best and the lack of this system is a huge no-no for my wife.

I always bought my car between 3 and 5% below invoice, regardless of brand...and I never lost a deal....sometimes took me one month but in the end I always got the car and the price I wanted....so far my luck has not run out.

Depreciation on the GC is tremendous so this make me want even more trying to get the best I could.

Anyway it is quiet for the moment, no salesman call yet (I briefly told him I wanted to buy below invoice).....when they will call me I will make my first offer, probably slightly below 60 and then work out my "buffer".

I will keep you posted.

Re: Grand Cherokee SRT offer...

I gotta agree with the rest of the group, unlikely to see a deal much better than $500 below invoice. In a big market that might be even harder to obtain. If your focus is a good deal then 14's or maybe even some 13's (if there are any out there) on the dealer lot might be best chance.

Reliability has been good. Probably better than the 5 series BMW I owned before the SRT. Keep in mind maintenance is going to be higher, brakes and tires are expensive.

Re: Grand Cherokee SRT offer...

I got mine for 3% below invoice in Colorado a few weeks ago. Dealer actually had 6 on the lot at the time and they were all covered in snow. Said they don't sell a ton of SRTs but get a high allocation because they do a huge volume of other trims. The best I've seen locally was about 1500 below invoice and there isn't much inventory. I think the Texas Group Buy is also 3% below invoice, you'd just have to go get it or pay for transport.

Autonation West in Golden, CO. Did it all through about 5 or 6 emails. I was flying out to CO on vacation and it was going to be way expensive to rent something for the week, so I told them I'd buy one if they could get me a good deal. Told him if he could hit 3% under I'd put a deposit on a credit card right now. There are a bunch of dealers in the Denver area and they were by far the best price. Might have just gotten lucky maybe the manager was in a good mood and approved it??

Re: Grand Cherokee SRT offer...

We will have to agree to disagree on the fit and finish and interior. The ML Mercedes feels much cheaper to me inside. It has a synthetic leather look to it which in many cases is worse than plastic to me.

You will not find a car anywhere close to the same bang for the buck as the current SRT Jeep. You will need $80-85k in options to get the ML on par with the SRT in features. It will still be a dog performance wise. You will need $110k to beat the Jeep in performance. The fit and finish will be a little better but that's it.

What really confuses me is that you come from the Infiniti world. They are worse than Acura about that "plasticy' feeling inside. My sister in law has a fully loaded 2015 QX70 and it feels like tupperwear compared to the Jeep.

As you said already, we agree to disagree...Infiniti fit and finish is simply better...the SRT has the nice touches of the leather wrapped dash and the suede headliner but below the beltline is cheap hard plastic...the Infinit is not.....metal and wood trim in the Infiniti is the real thing not imitation.

I agree that the SRT is unbeatable when it come for bang for the buck but the fit and finish is not its forte IMHO. Obviously performance wise the QX70 is a joke compared to the SRT.

Re: Grand Cherokee SRT offer...

I ordered mine for 3% under invoice from a dealer in TX...so roughly $2,000 under invoice.

THat's the Texas Ggoup Buy... 5% on non-SRTs, 3% for SRTs. If you tell them that's your backup option, I bet the dealer gets close to that. I got mine close to 3% under (give or take a few bucks).
