Re: Gravel roads

I can confirm that P285/50R20XL Blizzak DM-V1's will fit on the factory rims and do NOT rub. I got a great deal on my 2014 but it came with the 3 season rubber and the Pirelli snows were back ordered a month. No chance to wait living in MN.
I have never posted pics before but took some today to give you a close look on the fitment. Based on discount tire calculator and my pics I think the extra 1.12inch diameter may require some trimming. My 50's are a snug fit.

Hope this helps - I know I searched forums forever without getting a clear answer so I just went for it. Glad I did - love the Blizzaks.

Re: Gravel roads

Thank you so much much, this info is really helpful... I know the blizzaks will help me with snow, i dont know about the gravel.... I run 8 miles of gravel round trip up here in montana... And with the srt8... It is really fun to go drift around corners and fly on the straights....

I dont think i can go to a 55 based on your pics....so i will have to find a 50 that can handle the offroad.....unless someone else can confirm a 55/r20 fits

Thanks again!

David

Re: Gravel roads

So if a 285/55/r20 is an extra 1.12" diameter over the 50, then there would need to be an extra 1/2 inch clearance all around...

Do you think the 1/2 will clear? Did you divide the 1.12 in half in thinking it won't fit??? Or did you think you didnt have an inch???

I just looked over on discount tire's site and they have some promising looking Nitto, Falken and Cooper all terrain tires in 285/50R-20. Just be aware some of those AT tires have some prominent tread bolsters that might rub on your inner wheel well liners.

You could also go with a LT tire that has more plyes to it but your ride will be rougher.

The only size that comes close on the goodyear adventure at is the LT 285-55-20
.. Do you know if they will fit???

Re: Gravel roads

Here's a tire calculator, I dont think the 285 -55 20s will fit they are 1.1 inches taller than the 285 50 20's.

Re: Gravel roads

i have a 2014 limited, came with 265 50 R20 and i upgraded to 285 50R20 and they work great, i got Cooper Zeon LTZ no rub no spacers needed

265/50R20 Overall Diameter 30.50 Section Width 10.90 Tread Width 8.3
275/55R20 Overall Diameter 31.93 Section Width 11.22 Tread Width 9.3
Change +1.43" +.32" +1.00"
285/50R20 Overall Diameter 31.29 Section Width 11.63 Tread Width 9.73
change + .79" +.73" +1.43"

there are the numbers
55 tire will be much taller and might rub off road more than the 50

some of the other tires are i bit different but very close

Re: Gravel roads

Thanks you all... After 3 flat tires in the weeks.... And the short wheelbase being really squirly on my roads... I gave up the fight and traded my srt8 on a Yukon xl denali.... Much much better for my particular situation... Correct vehicle for the job... I'll miss the srt8... The denali is pretty nice too...
