Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

Here in Australia the DB level for the Jeep SRT8 is 83DB. For the commodore 427 it is 10DB higher go figure? Even some of the Japanese 4WD have a higher DB allowance than the SRT8.
Anyone know what the DB for the GTHaust is?

Yup, strike three. I had to have it. I ordered my cat back set up Dec 17/13 from Chad with Black Ops and it arrived yesterday (01/16/14) via Fed Ex to Canada. Delivery was only 289 and duty charges were only 115 area. Given the exhaust is over $3577 for full price, I expected a *MUCH* larger duty hit.

The welds on this exhaust are extreme. The guys at the muffler shop, who have been doing work here in Kelowna since 1941 were blown away by the quality. They deal with after market exhausts all day and these guys are the go-to guys on town. The deal with Ferrari, Lamborghini, even old school AC Bristol's and they said this was in the top 5 they've ever seen for build quality.

They were amazed at how it fit perfect with no adjustments whatsoever needed. Simply beautiful one of the owners, 73 years old told me. It said it made him want to buy an SRT just to have this exhaust.

In closed mode, it's noticeably louder than the Borla S Type I had on my previous 14' SRT. If you're cruising, it's quieter than stock, but when you step into it.. ERMAGAWD RELEASE DA CRAKEN!

It really makes a difference now, if you're in D, S or Paddle shift mode as well as Auto, Sport or Track. In stock form, there is a slight difference but with this exhaust, it's MUCH more pronounced and this is a good thing.

There is also a noticeable bump in power from stock, nothing earth shaking but it feels more there if that makes any sense?

In Open mode - holy shit Sally, sell your clothes, they're not needed anymore. This thing is sex on wheels. It is loud and even as I type the word loud I am pretty sure that's still an understatement. It sounds like a fuel dragster when you floor it in open mode.

Best. Drive. Home. Ever.

So knowing what I know now, I can more than stand behind what Tom said about how the videos make it cool and sound like it's something you need for sure, but once you get it.. wow. It's like you wonder how you ever lived without.

We've had shit weather with fog so when it clears up, I'll do some videos.

Thank you to Tom for being crazy enough to jump first. thanks to Chad @ Black Ops for getting it here fast and even beating the timeline he told me by close to 2 weeks.
Love the review - thanks. The video is tempting me to swap out my Borla S, much like a number of other folks have mentioned...

I have an off-topic question for you - who did your website? I love it. Clean, modern, easy to navigate. I want to set up a similar site for my own little hobby (DSLR video) and would love to use that format.

thanks for the compliment, I did the site entirely myself. Honestly I find it confusing sometimes, navigation wise etc, i got a little happy with tags, categories etc. someday when i have time I'll clean it up.

It's a wordpress blog, wordpress is pretty easy to do in my opinion. Get hosting, add wordpress, grab a skin from themeforest.net to look nice, change the graphics and add whatever and you're set up.

Looks like not too many people know the answer yet.

So I just placed an order through Chad at Blackops for my very own GT Haus system.

When I get it installed I will post up my findings. Can't wait to see what you other guys have been raving about.

I ordered a GT Haus from Chad as well at the start of Feb but there is a back order so I don't expect to see it arrive into West Aust till April. Will accept it earlier though.

vvM1LESvv did you check out Best Exhaust in Canberra they are the Australian Agent for GT Haust exhausts. (cheaper from Black OPs)

Bro, when I u heard your system, even though it was recorded through your phone, that's exactly what I thought.. 'Holy farkin shiit!" In a good way.
I was thinking maybe it was your headers that really made it roar like fark.

So with your recommendations about hoon laws I thought I'd try the system, without headers, but the selling point was the closed mode, it seems to have a nice subtle, yet, definetly beast tuned sound to it.

My brembo cross drilled rotors finally shipped, but now they are stuck in customs due to lack of "commercial invoice info" I figure they are going to try to screw me on import Tax. Has anyone else encountered this and know what to do To get the ball rolling, so I can sort it out sooner rather than later? did you guys on the west coast get lugged with this as well with your imports?

And if the GT Haus system gets pulled up in customs, I might be up for another 450 in GST to get it cleared, so that'll take the price up to a bit below 5g Aussie dollars for the system delivered, With the POXY as **** exchange rate at the moment.. I'm spewin because shit would be cheap if these cars were released while the AUD VS USD was back up over the USd.. But u get that..

One of my original thoughts when I ordered the rig was ' **** yeah, it'd be cheap as buyin the US Import aftermarket parts cause international trade with the rate was so good.

It's a fair bit of coin to spend on an exhaust, but I figure I'd we are buying the flagship SUV SRT model, why not go the extra mile, and give it the flagship system it deserves.

I'll talk to my guy installing the zorst with the rest of my gear, and try to a baseline run, completely stock, then get a run with the Bwoody, then a run with the fastman throttle body, then a run with those on top of the exhaust.

I'm not gonna dyno tune yet, cause I'm still not 100% on if we can do that fairly safely yet. Can anyone recommended if I should run with getting a dyno tune? Do u think these mods need a tune? I'm used to Turbo Ford inline 6's, this being my first V8 hemi, I'm still not 100% on what we should/ shouldn't do once these V8's get a few minor bolt on's.

Overall with the SRT I'm so glad I didn't dive in and purchase the original 2012 model I test Drove, Because once I saw the 2014 I was SOLD. 8 speed ZF Tranny! Paddle Shifters! Farkin sweet. Big touch screen, voice recognition that actually works.. Even can get the VR to bring up the SRTperformance pages when they are not displayed on the regular screen.

We have confirmation in Australia of our homegrown FORD and HOLDEN locally made factories are closing down. But in the BIG scheme, I can't wait for the Mustangs to land ( but kinda feel sorry for the boys that paid the premium for the LHD US versions to get converted to RHD) but hey once Ford Australia shuts down, the Mustangs around here will be a hell of a lot cheaper. And I think they will sell obscene numbers. Global platforms make sense.

Kinda got on a off topic tangent there, but beer does that.

In Summary. ****in **** yeah.

Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

Nice post Peter, a few beers mate hey, I will try to add to some of your comments

Anything you bring into the country you will have to pay GST on top of the price of the goods. You also will have to pay GST on the freight component. Nothing you can do about it.

You also have to pay Duty. However there is a trade agreement between USA and Australia where you don't have to pay duty as long as the goods are Amercian Made. If you can prove this (usually with a letter from the seller or a website stating this sometimes works) then you can fill out some forms that wave this duty so that is 5% saved.

If the goods and freight are under $1000 total you don't pay duty, any more than $1000 and the above applies.

Also on top of this are customs fees and possibly AQIS fees if they want to be ars&holes. This is cleaning and inspection and happens a lot with cars etc being shipped in.
