Agreed. Videos wouldn't help you with this situation.

Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

Right, I am sharing the same feeling as our Australian friends regarding the GTHaus exhaust...

I have 2 constraints for my exhaust mod:
1) It needs to be a bolt-on / bolt-off design so I can revert to stock for mandatory inspections (so Borla axle backs that require to butcher the stock setup are off the list);
2) It cannot be too loud, as Swiss cops' ears are delicate... Joking aside, if stopped by the plod it's a "fine+revert to stock+present for inspection" deal, same as Downunder. Not fun. And costly.

A post on this forum from Chad (BlackOpsAutoworks) saying that people he knows that had had a Corsa-equipped WK1 were all disappointed by the WK2 iteration by Corsa (and stories of powdercoating flaking away) convinced me to avoid Corsa this time (I had a WK1 with Corsa before).

GTHaus sounded initially like a great option, with the choice of open/closed modes and high praises by those that installed it. I candidly expected closed mode to be relatively civilized and open to be brutal but this video finished to convince me that this exhaust is too loud even in closed mode (this is closed mode... and the truck looks great in matte black!):

So with 2 modes being "brutal" and "f.....g brutal!!", the steep price tag ends up being the last nail in the coffin.

Soooo...
This leaves a choice of Stainless Works, American Racing Headers and Kooks (cat-backs only, I am not changing to long tube headers because of no. 1) above...).

Any take on these three as a stand-alone cat-back?

Closed mode is very "civilized." It is just a deeper more aggressive sound than the stock. It is louder than stock if you punch the gas but if you are driving normal the only difference is sound. There shouldn't be any issues in the city with driving with the valves closed. Who ever told you different then throw their opinion out the window. I've had this kit the longest and the most people have experienced mine so I know what I am talking about. If people think the closed mode is too much then you should sell your SRT and get a limited.

Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

if you worried about the sound then vids don't do any exhausts justice. Ive never heard a vid that does the Borla atak justice. Ive had people tell me that now way a Jeep sounds like that and they thought I pulled into their place in some sort of big block muscle car.

Yep I'm another Aussie on board, can't wait till it gets here. I think so far I will be the only bloke on the east coast with the system.

As soon as it arrives I'm dropping the car off to get it fitted, along with my bwoody intake, fast man throttle body, new brembo cross drilled rotors, ceramic pads eibachs and catch can.

Fark yeah!

Thanks for this.
I read that idle it's even quiter than stock... but the video of this truck reversing, engine idling, it sounds pretty loud already... and JDR8 seemed quite positive the truck in the vid is in "closed" mode.
I was a couple of enquiries away from ordering from Chad, but this video really has taken me a couple of steps back...

I know I am coming through as finicky, and I'm ready to bite the bullet on this exhaust which is in a league of its own, (price-wise too...), but I'd kick myself every day if I end up having to remove it after a week...

To add to my hesitations, it seems our Aussie friends are overcoming their concerns about law enforcement's reactions and are proud customers of the GTHaus company

Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

As far as I know there was/is only one guy who had to remove his due to possible police issues. Don't know if he has actually removed it yet or not, I did ask if he was selling it but no response.

I think the only other one is Aus is motor351 who lives on the other side of Aus to the first guy. Looking forward to his thoughts on it.
