Damn I had no idea Australia was so strict. It was always in the back of mind as a place to escape once the liberals had succeeded in destroying the powerhouse formerly known as America. I'll have to re-think it. Maybe Poland. I was very impressed with that country. The least socialist and communist of Europe, and the people are very humble and friendly...

Just a thought. You may not be able to do this but if anyone can than we will all have a better idea.
Oddly enough, I do know someone with a Borla Atak.. I'll see what I can do.

+ Definitely interested. It's too late for me to turn back now but I'd like some reassurance before it comes in. My Borla ATAK was quiet IMO. I'm hoping closed mode is louder. It needs to be somewhere between my current setup and the Borla.

Does anyone know the different between the GThaus x-pipe(base) and the x-pipe (superior) ? Does the two different x-pipe sounds different?

I have 2 constraints for my exhaust mod:
1) It needs to be a bolt-on / bolt-off design so I can revert to stock for mandatory inspections (so Borla axle backs that require to butcher the stock setup are off the list);
2) It cannot be too loud, as Swiss cops' ears are delicate... Joking aside, if stopped by the plod it's a "fine+revert to stock+present for inspection" deal, same as Downunder. Not fun. And costly.

A post on this forum from Chad (BlackOpsAutoworks) saying that people he knows that had had a Corsa-equipped WK1 were all disappointed by the WK2 iteration by Corsa (and stories of powdercoating flaking away) convinced me to avoid Corsa this time (I had a WK1 with Corsa before).

GTHaus sounded initially like a great option, with the choice of open/closed modes and high praises by those that installed it. I candidly expected closed mode to be relatively civilized and open to be brutal but this video finished to convince me that this exhaust is too loud even in closed mode (this is closed mode... and the truck looks great in matte black!):

So with 2 modes being "brutal" and "f.....g brutal!!", the steep price tag ends up being the last nail in the coffin.

Soooo...
This leaves a choice of Stainless Works, American Racing Headers and Kooks (cat-backs only, I am not changing to long tube headers because of no. 1) above...).

Any take on these three as a stand-alone cat-back?
Just a thought - couldn't you install a Borla ATAK or S (I have the S, and it sounds killer), and then just get some slightly larger diameter pipe extensions welded to the stock exhaust so you can slip it on when you need to go in for a test? This seems like it would be easier than dropping a full exhaust system and re-installing the stock set-up. You could have the rear pipes off and the stockers back on in less than 1 hour.

The video of the flat black jeep is in open mode not closed. I drove to Austin and back to Dallas yesterday which is 6 hours of driving. I drove in closed mode and never got a drone and honestly never even heard the exhaust unless I punched it to pass people driving slow. Those of you worried should not be. You have a 500hp SUV, it's going to be loud when you punch is no matter what exhaust you have on it. I have heard Borla in person and the GTHaus sounds much better. They are similar when gthaus is closed but I still think gthaus is a much deeper sound idling and driving.
