Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

My GTHaus turned up Wednesday it cost $450 to get it out of customs. Will be fitted this Friday and the exhaust shop will do some sound tests for me. They will take readings of the standard exhaust at Idle than at 3000 revs. After installation they will take the same readings in closed then open modes.

It will be interesting to see (hear) what the differences are. http://jeepgarage.org/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Re: GT Haus Meinschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

Fitted the GT Haus system on Friday you defiantly know there is a different system on the SUV now.
On start-up it has a distinctive bark then settles down but on acceleration it sounds louder than the standard system but at constant speed you canít tell the difference.
Acceleration seems smoother then before and on hard acceleration when you back off the engine sounds like it continues to run on for one or two seconds before the revs start dropping.
The standard exhaust at 2000 rev is 88.5 DB the GT Haus closed at 2000 rev is 90 DB and when the GT Haust is fully open at 2000 rev is 97 DB.
The exhaust shop said for Australia the max DB allowed is 94 DB so it not too bad. He wasnít keen on the sound but said it should change when there is a bit of carbon on the inside of the pipes.
I recommend driving through tunnels with the windows down and giving it some stick. Awesome.

Congrats on the install! Thanks for taking the time to take those DB comparison measurements and post them as I found them to be very informative.

Re: GT Haus Meisterschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

It started with Tom posted the video of the GT Haus exhaust. Damn it. Strike one. Then he ordered his, got it set up and posted a video of it on the lift in closed and open mode. Damn it Damn it Damn it. Strike two. Then, for fun, Tom posted a video of the exhaust in motion...

Yup, strike three. I had to have it. I ordered my cat back set up Dec 17/13 from Chad with Black Ops and it arrived yesterday (01/16/14) via Fed Ex to Canada. Delivery was only 289 and duty charges were only 115 area. Given the exhaust is over $3577 for full price, I expected a *MUCH* larger duty hit.

The welds on this exhaust are extreme. The guys at the muffler shop, who have been doing work here in Kelowna since 1941 were blown away by the quality. They deal with after market exhausts all day and these guys are the go-to guys on town. The deal with Ferrari, Lamborghini, even old school AC Bristol's and they said this was in the top 5 they've ever seen for build quality.

They were amazed at how it fit perfect with no adjustments whatsoever needed. Simply beautiful one of the owners, 73 years old told me. It said it made him want to buy an SRT just to have this exhaust.

In closed mode, it's noticeably louder than the Borla S Type I had on my previous 14' SRT. If you're cruising, it's quieter than stock, but when you step into it.. ERMAGAWD RELEASE DA CRAKEN!

It really makes a difference now, if you're in D, S or Paddle shift mode as well as Auto, Sport or Track. In stock form, there is a slight difference but with this exhaust, it's MUCH more pronounced and this is a good thing.

There is also a noticeable bump in power from stock, nothing earth shaking but it feels more there if that makes any sense?

In Open mode - holy shit Sally, sell your clothes, they're not needed anymore. This thing is sex on wheels. It is loud and even as I type the word loud I am pretty sure that's still an understatement. It sounds like a fuel dragster when you floor it in open mode.

Best. Drive. Home. Ever.

So knowing what I know now, I can more than stand behind what Tom said about how the videos make it cool and sound like it's something you need for sure, but once you get it.. wow. It's like you wonder how you ever lived without.

We've had shit weather with fog so when it clears up, I'll do some videos.

Thank you to Tom for being crazy enough to jump first. thanks to Chad @ Black Ops for getting it here fast and even beating the timeline he told me by close to 2 weeks.[/QUOTE]
