GT Haus Meisterschaft Exhaust for 2014 Wk2 Review

This will most likely be an ongoing review.

It started with Tom posted the video of the GT Haus exhaust. Damn it. Strike one. Then he ordered his, got it set up and posted a video of it on the lift in closed and open mode. Damn it Damn it Damn it. Strike two. Then, for fun, Tom posted a video of the exhaust in motion...

Yup, strike three. I had to have it. I ordered my cat back set up Dec 17/13 from Chad with Black Ops and it arrived yesterday (01/16/14) via Fed Ex to Canada. Delivery was only 289 and duty charges were only 115 area. Given the exhaust is over $3577 for full price, I expected a *MUCH* larger duty hit.

The welds on this exhaust are extreme. The guys at the muffler shop, who have been doing work here in Kelowna since 1941 were blown away by the quality. They deal with after market exhausts all day and these guys are the go-to guys on town. The deal with Ferrari, Lamborghini, even old school AC Bristol's and they said this was in the top 5 they've ever seen for build quality.

They were amazed at how it fit perfect with no adjustments whatsoever needed. Simply beautiful one of the owners, 73 years old told me. It said it made him want to buy an SRT just to have this exhaust.

In closed mode, it's noticeably louder than the Borla S Type I had on my previous 14' SRT. If you're cruising, it's quieter than stock, but when you step into it.. ERMAGAWD RELEASE DA CRAKEN!

It really makes a difference now, if you're in D, S or Paddle shift mode as well as Auto, Sport or Track. In stock form, there is a slight difference but with this exhaust, it's MUCH more pronounced and this is a good thing.

There is also a noticeable bump in power from stock, nothing earth shaking but it feels more there if that makes any sense?

In Open mode - holy shit Sally, sell your clothes, they're not needed anymore. This thing is sex on wheels. It is loud and even as I type the word loud I am pretty sure that's still an understatement. It sounds like a fuel dragster when you floor it in open mode.

Best. Drive. Home. Ever.

So knowing what I know now, I can more than stand behind what Tom said about how the videos make it cool and sound like it's something you need for sure, but once you get it.. wow. It's like you wonder how you ever lived without.

We've had shit weather with fog so when it clears up, I'll do some videos.

Thank you to Tom for being crazy enough to jump first. thanks to Chad @ Black Ops for getting it here fast and even beating the timeline he told me by close to 2 weeks.

great review. I'm interested to hear your impressions as time goes on. I am highly considering picking this up in the spring but am concerned with drone and what it sounds like when MDS kicks in. I do a lot of highway driving with ECO on. Any comments on that aspect would be appreciated.

I'm honestly not sure where they are but a search would find them. I also have them posted on this blog post I did regarding the exhaust options before I settled on the GT Haus if this helps. It does have Tom's videos.

I've never tried eco to be honest, so not sure what difference it makes. At 60mph / 95 kmh I find in auto / d it's def. quieter but like all exhausts, when you step into it, it comes alive.

In short, the SRT is a true muscle car now. It sounds like an old 70' Charger or something beefy that's just waiting to tear the car beside it a new ass.

so freaking cool.

I rarely ever get any drone. The factory exhaust was 10000x worse. I can hands down say that the exhaust is my favorite mod I have done. When people ask me to rev it they are completely blown away at the sound quality. It sounds like a tuned fighter jet. I don't even like posting videos because it in no way compared to how insane it really is. I would say it's easily worth every penny. These should come standard, this exhaust is EXACTLY how these jeeps should sound. Perfected.

Congrats and have fun with it. It never gets old. Under highways is very entertaining.

First of all, great review! MDS drone aside (great feedback on this aspect), just to clarify, are you really saying that this aftermarket beast (open mode) of an exhaust, is "quieter than stock" (closed mode) while cruising (60mph to 70mph) from inside the cabin with the windows up?

In closed mode:

It starts louder but then settles down quickly. Sort of a warning of what it can do, a burst of OMGOMGOMG and then it relaxes. When driving in auto mode, D on shifter (not S or manual) it is quieter unless you add a decent amount of gas. Then it wakes the beast for damn sure and the results are epic. Then you step off the gas and get back to just normal driving and it relaxes again.

At 60mph, it is quieter, yes. To the point of... er.. is something wrong with my exhaust?

/steps on gas

ROOOAR

Nope.. it's still there.

If you flip from Auto to Sport or Track - all bets in closed are now off. It's louder, more aggressive. Still not nearly as loud as open mode though, open mode, is.. well, obscene. (in such a good way)

In open mode:

Like Tom said, it's a freaking fighter jet. I went to the dealership to show it off. They all had mouthes open. One guy came out asking where the stock car was. it sounds raw, unedited, ready to shred someone's ass.

I couldn't agree more with Tom, this is the best money i have spent now other than buying the SRT itself. I'm pretty sure I sold one yesterday to a fellow Jeep SRT owner after hearing it rev for under 3 minutes. He just kept smiling, shaking his head.

Do it. Just freaking do it. The videos don't remotely capture the noise. It's a muscle car now when you want it. thud thud thud thus thud raaawwwwwrrrrrrrrr

All kinds of oh hell yes.
