Re: Headlight Condensation

vented lamps will fog with severe weather changes. Most headlamps made today are vented...especially HID/led

Well, I took pictures again, so one option is to send them again to the dealer to see if they change the headlights again (which they should if they are consistent in their decisions). But I am not convinced I got 2 sets of bad headlights...
The other option is to do nothing (what I do best) and just check over a longer period of time if this is limited to a give set of circumstances, and basically that this is acceptable in the long run.
From what I've seen so far it happens mostly when there is a big temperature gap over relatively short time (for example, coming out of a heated underground parking lot on a cold rainy night), as mentionned by Scott above.

Scott I appreciate what you're saying however I've seen a boat load of Audis and range rovers with very similar units without this happening. I've had a couple mates already say "hey is that water drops in there!?" I just don't think we a $90k AUD car should have this as a talking point. Saying that I love the beast and wouldn't have anything else.

Re: Headlight Condensation

My 2014 SRT I picked up 2 weeks ago also received condensation in the headlamps, but then currently its fall and we have high dew point present and cooler temps. My first thought when I seen it was hmm.. I wonder if this is normal, but then both headlamps are doing it so it's probably not a defective lamp since both are the same. When I showed my buddy the car, a few days later he noticed it also and asked me if that's normal, I shrugged my shoulders. He said check the site you used mots on to see if others had the same issue and sure enough I found this thread with other owners having the same condensation issue.

Re: Headlight Condensation

It is obviously just a Jeep thing as demonstrated by the links below.

I picked up my 2014 week ago Friday. Condensation on delivery so I assume its the pressure wash they did. I have yet to get the jeep wet and its gerage kept to see if this clears. What mine do is condensate when I drive it and clear in a few hours after I stop. Its only around the lower half edge but its annoying on a 50k vehicle.

Re: Headlight Condensation

i just brought home my 2104 gc srt8 tonight and it has the same pattern of condensation in both headlamp assemblies (looks terrible). no rain either (dealer had just washed it). i understand from other posts that these lamps are supposed to be vented but they obviously aren't vented 'enough' if the moisture gets in but can't get out as fast. hoping this goes away. i've had other HID assemblies in different cars and they were all sealed. once water got in, the clear lens eventually became permanently foggy as the water stains could not be wiped off (they're inside!!). wtf to do??

Enjoy your Jeep and don't stress over a non-issue. If you click on the links I posted, you'll see this is not a Jeep thing.

TSB clearly shows what is defective and what is normal... Most of the "issues" we are seeing are normal.

For me its not ok and the BS response from the dealer and SRT is a copout and they should just deal with the issue. The manual says fogging may occur and does not say that there will be a small puddle of water or water droplets in the corner of your headlight. I found a "fix" on a Chrysler 300 forum that I feel may help with venting and I plan on doing it once I get a second set of covers for the HID's. I have only had my 14 SRT for a few weeks and I can honestly say my headlights are fogged more of those days than not.
