Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Hi I have a question for all the Australian owners who have fitted this kit.

I fitted my kit. Was very easy and took about 20 min. When the head lights are off the DLR turn on and the ribbon lights come on together. Looks great and the with the bright ribbon lights it look great.
When I turn the head lights on the ribbon lights dimm which they should but my DRL turn off. I was hopping the head lights could be on with the ribbon lights and the DRL.

So you Australians, do your DRL stay on when the head lights are on?

Before the harness did your bumper strip stay on with headlights? Trying to understand if the harness is changing the operation of the bumper strips...that would be weird since the harness only interfaces with the headlight ribbons.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

I just installed your harness on my Jeep, CLSTech!
Works as advertised, simple and well crafted. The posi-tap connectors are really easy to use, I had never used such connectors before, but I'm happy that you provided these. Also, thanks for giving ample extra length in the portion that goes to the driver side headlight, I could comfortably shorten that portion after installing but it's a nice touch to let this up to the owner / installer.

The result is as advertised earlier on this thread, bright LED ribbons together with bumper LED strips, but they go back to their dimmer setting with Park lights and low beams (as I chose to tap the park light wire to trigger the relay).

Interesting discovery during the little test I did immediately after installing. My driveway being in a slight slope, I usually set my park brake: First test, with lights switch on "0" and in both Park and Drive, LED ribbons were on full bright but the LED bumper strips were not...?!?! Only when I realised my Park Brake was on could I finally (by releasing the Park Brake and putting my Jeep gear lever on Drive) get the LED ribbons and the LED bumper strips to get along and light up at the same time. Strange stuff...

Anyway, bottom line is this is a great, simple mod. Thanks again CLSTech!!

Perfect then I think results are normal for the Australian models. Just want to repeat that the harness does not interface with the bumper LEDs. There should be no change in the bumper strip operation, just the headlight ribbons.
