So we put it back together and now ever time I start the car I get this message " Service Adaptive Headlamp System" , so and then I did a soft restart inside the car ,still came back then a engineers hard restart came back then pulled battery off and left it overnight still came back , so drove home 800klms my Uconnect froze up and couldn't play music or use my phone , rang the dealer ship yesterday they plugged in there computer I sat there and watched him and he couldn't clear the codes so he then told me the headlight level system in the rear of the car was broken and he would order me a new one in , also now my headlights don't turn when going around a corner ?? But I don't blame anyone I new the risks and before we even attempted attaching the posi tap connectors my mate read the post on this forum and looked at the wiring diagrams many many times to make sure . Like I said my mates a dam good sparky has completely rewired many cars from the ground up for himself and other people and after all we only connected 2 wires according to the wiring diagram and it's only 12v . Oh well I just hope it gets fixed now they have ordered the parts , also my stereo and Uconnect work now thank god . I did right down the position numbers where we tapped into but I have to find them tomorrow I'm laying in bed now to bloody cold to get up ....

I received CLSTech's first prototype DRL Harness and shortly after receipt I realized that the diode was installed backwards so I took the liberties of changing that by cutting it out of the harness and re-installing it with two butt splices. The added resistance those two butt splices added to my headlight circuit was enough to trigger the "Service Adaptive Headlamp System" error. I spoke with a tech at the dealership and he said the Jeep senses both voltage and current draw in the headlamp circuit and will error out if one of those exceeds the limit. I did not get the limits from him. However, the Jeep checks those constantly which is why the error may come and go. As long as the error is present the headlights will not turn with the steering wheel. Once the error disappears the headlights will turn again. I have since replaced my prototype harness with a "production" harness from CLSTech and have not had the adaptive headlight code return.

Keep in mind the wiring systems and monitoring that goes on is more than most expect. Any subtle change in voltage or current can skew the command the ECU is trying to provide. If it is enough it shuts itself down to prevent any further "damage" even though no physical damage may be present.

Just my two cents.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Hmm very interesting thanks for that maybe my diode was around the wrong way ? Like I said we only connected up one side which was the drivers side , I can't check now because I left the CLStech kit behind at my mates house which is 800 klm away , actually it's 1600klm there and back . But how did you clear the code ? I tried everything even watched the service guy plug in the laptop to try and clear it ?

Backwards diode wouldn't cause that issue. I've actually ran this without a diode with no negative affects except a random flicker of the bumper LEDs. The diode in the opposite direction would stop current/voltage flow.

I still really want to know what you guys tapped into. Especially if the wires suggested were not there... Did you remove the white plastic pins from the vacant slots?

Hope you get fixed up...

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

CLS. The DRL ribbons burn very intense/bright. I was wondering if they can they handle the extra output without burning out quickly? Do you have any idea.

That is the same brightness they run during the day on the overland and summit models.

Awesome! That's what I wanted to hear, thanks man.

By the way with these on now during the day this truck turns even more heads! Even old ladies stop and turn around to check it out

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

I'm sure there is a solution for you maxy9, let the dealer fix your problem first and then we can help find an answer to get yours working.

800k's to your sparky? Where do you live?
