No they don't have to dim. And if you don't want them to dim, truly the harness is not necessary. The headlight ribbons are very bright at full intensity. So much so that they probably would blind on coming traffic at night. It almost looked like I had my high beams activated.

If you got the harness and wanted to see how constant full brightness looked, you could do so by not connecting the low beam wire.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

If anyone is going to install this harness by CLStech, can you post a video installation tutorial ? That'll be very helpful to anyone planning to do this themselves.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Scott should have his today. Please give an honest review when possible. I am trying to perfect the harness and if you think it could be better in anyway I am extremely open to opinions.

Got the harness today and installed it. It is so simple and straight forward. It took a moderately mechanically inclined person such as myself about an hour to install. Quite frankly it took so long because I kept rereading the instructions over and over again so I could get it right the first time. Anyway, all of you interested have already seen the final product. The following pics just show how I placed the harness and some of the wiring. The harness is very long but can be neatly placed without having to cut it short. Thank you CLSTech for your contribution. Great job!

Craig,

Glad the install went well and I apologize for the length issue. I will look to revise the design to compensate. How did you like the posi-tap connectors? Is there anything else that could be better?

How do you like the look? I think the full intensity is badass!

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

I just installed the harness and everything works fine except that when I turn my headlights on the passenger side dims and the driver side turns off and then comes back on after about 30 seconds on dim. What could be causing this?

It sounds like there is a bad connection somewhere. Be sure to check your ground wire connection too. Double check those posi-tap connectors. Make sure the needle stabs the wire directly in the middle and not off to the side of the wire. Also make sure the other end of the posi-tap connector (where the harness wire fits into) is screwed in tight.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

I checked all the connections and even shook them all to see if that was it and nothing happened. Once it comes back on it doesn't do it again also if I turn all the lights off again and turn them on it doesn't do it only after the truck has been sitting for a while with the lights off.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Could there be something wrong with the relay?
