So the option of parking lights or headlights all depends on which wire your tap into?

Exactly. The relay to dim the ribbon is triggered based on the headlight or parking light your choice.

However I came to a conclusion that if I used this mod, the following will happen :

- FOR EXPORT MODELS -

At A : LED strip + Ribbon will be ON at daylight, but LED strip turns OFF at night. High intensity in daylight, low intensity at night.
At O : LED strip + Ribbon will be ON at full intensity all the time.
At PL : No change (unless intensity changes)
At HL : No change (unless intensity changes)

Not completely sure about these since I haven't got my hands on the mod yet, but the logic makes sense.
Ok, clear, thanks. And I realise now (thanks for chiming in, CLSTech) that the Hi-intensity Ribbon is used in Summit / Overland trim levels as DRLs, but we never see it in our trucks in stock form.
I just hope our Export trucks are wired the same, and it is just the programming that is different between US/Canadian and Export. This would make sense from a manufacturing point of view. It would mean that we can then use the harness as designed, or a simplified version (tap at the fuse + diode + Posi-tap on the Ribbon / Hi intensity wire, that's it), although the relay doesn't hurt, it is just a bit redundant with the Export setup.

That would be icing on the cake, but the Ribbon coming ON during daytime driving would be a good start to spiff up the truck.

I think you will find that the headlight ribbon DRL will remain at high intensity at all times if you do not incorporate the relay to turn them off with the headlights/parking lights.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Another happy customer...did the install this morning. Really straightforward and not difficult. Spent more time making the harness pretty and out of the way than the actual install. My recommendation is to connect it to allow the dimming process as the full intensity is very strong. Again, thanks for doing this and answering a couple of dumb questions.

With the export DRLs (bumper strip) being off whenever the lights switch is on Park Lights / Headlights, I thought this would cut power at the DRL's fuse at the same time. With this fuse being the power source to your harness, it would mean the relay is being triggered (shutting power to the high-intensity ribbon DRLs) at the same time its power source is OFF.
Or am I missing something?

I cannot confirm if the DRL circuits power is cut. Is this something you can confirm for us... If it is there are other circuits that will be powered only when the vehicle is in the run position...

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Is it true that the LED strips have no wired connections for export models ? As in the sockets are there but are simply not wired like US models. If so, that means there is no way a mod can be made to control the strips instead of ribbons using a similar method as yours, right ?

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Are you talking about the bumper LED strips? In Aus we have them, pretty much the same as US spec in that they only come on when in gear.

Yeah. Hmm it's different over here, as the led strip only illuminates at O or when the sun is up while on A.

Thats weird, mine comes on when the motor is started. Does not have anything to do with the gear.
I plan to do this mod shortly and will do a writeup of the Export one. Nobody seemed interested in getting it done by a professional, so I will just do it myself.

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Export SRT's Bumper LED will light when you start the car up.. It will also go away, when the parking light or headlight switches on.

I'm now waiting for CLS's harness as it is still on transit and has just left LA on the 9th of May.
