Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Hi everyone. Just got my harness today. I have an installation question though for someone who has already done the install.

Step 7 says:

7) Using PosiTap
connectors, make below connections
Passenger DRL→ White w/Dark Blue Stripe ( harness position 3)
Passenger Low Beam→ White w/Orange Stripe ( harness position 1)
***optional if
you would like Headlamp DRL LED Ribbons to dim with parking lights
connect passenger Low Beam wire to >
White w/Orange Stripe (harness position 6)***

On my harness though position 3 is not a white w/Dark blur stripe wire. It is a stub where no wire is. There is a white and blue wire but it's in position 16.

Here is a pic:

Then on the drivers side, it says:
Driver Side DRL→ White w/Yellow Stripe ( harness position 3)

but I don't even have a white w/ yellow stripe wire . .

One last question, The posi-tap connectors. Are they supposed to actually pierce the wire?

thanks!

Re: Headlight Ribbon DRL Activation Kit

Looks like we have deviation from the wiring diagram the harness was based on. Those pins are definitely missing from your harness probably to truly get rid of functionality... It would take actually populating those pins to get you up and running.

What was your build date? PM me so we can look into refund if neccessary.

The posi-tap connectors will pierce the wire slightly to make the connection.

** Can others please check the headlight harnesses as soon as possible to avoid further issues **

In wanting to be totally transparent with this situation, please see below:

The harness can automatically turn on the parking lights, which turns the headlight ribbons on at low intensity. When you put the vehicle to Run the ribbons will light at low intensity.
To do this you can wire as below
-Passenger DRL→ White w/Orange Stripe (harness position 6)
-Passenger Low Beam→ White w/Orange Stripe ( harness position 1)
-Driver Side DRL→ White w/ Brown stripe (harness position 6)

With the missing 'DRL Lamp (ribbon)' wire you will not be able to get the ribbons to light at full intensity.
