Help me make it tougher

Okay I've searched A LOT, and haven't found what I need. We recently bought a '14 Overland. I wanted all the features, but my wife doesn't care too much for the look. I gotta say, I agree with her on that. I want it to be more rugged, and Jeep like. You know, a lot less soccer mom like.

First order of business is to take care of the tires. I've got that covered, but how do I get rid of all this chrome. Anyone have any recommendations for loosing the chrome on the lower valance, mirrors, and maybe even the window trim.

Don't get me wrong I really like this Jeep, I'm just looking to make it a bit more unique. So any tips to good aftermarket parts, and/or where I can find how-to threads on taking some these things apart so I can customize it would be great.

Re: Help me make it tougher

If it were me id replace it all with OEM parts. It's probably the most expensive but it will look the best in the end.

PlastiDip will never be on any of my cars.
Vinyl is promising depending on the part and location.
Paint is good if it's done right but again expensive.

Re: Help me make it tougher

OEM replacements are pretty much the plan, but how?
The lower valance applique was easy enough to find, but what about the mirrors and doors? I know the valance and fog light bezels just unsnap, but is the chrome on the mirrors replaceable? One new mirror is about $400 when you've got power, blind spot alert, etc. Not looking to drop $800 on new mirrors, but I'll gladly pop the chrome skin off and put color matched or black in it's place.
And what about the doors? How does that trim come off? Any threads on how to take this stuff apart?

FWIW, I plan on swapping the rims for a set of Rubicon rims. I've got a V6 w/o tow package so no HD brakes. I hear it will be close, but they should fit from what I've seen.

Re: Help me make it tougher

Change of plans on the rims. I opted for some '16 Sahara rims. They fit like a glove, and look much better. I didn't want to have to worry about interference with the calipers, so I played it safe. Kinda glad I did, I think I like the look of these Sahara set better (machined aluminum, with graphite pockets).
I'll be swapping the stock tires on them for a set of Duratracs or KO2s. Just finding the best price right now.
