Mate, when you buy a new car, the drive away price includes all kind of additions over the top of the vehicles price... GST, luxury car tax, dealer delivery, rego and plates... $91k is $76k + $2k assumed extra for 2014 model + sunroof and audio + tow pack + luxury car tax (the majority) + GST+ delivery ($3k odd) + rego + nice plates.

More than happy for you to find a better price... My contract is full of holes.

Re: Help needed in Australia!

Any info on 2014 special editions?
The 2014 upgrades (gearbox etc) are too good to pass on, how ever, the 2013 Vapor looks the goods.

Is the rumour of a factory fitted supercharger (boosting to 540-570HP) rubbish? If its looking likely, I'll wait it out.

Cheers,
James

Re: Help needed in Australia!

Hi Patch,

I was just interested how you got to 91k, i know of all the additional costs, majority taxes. I thought maybe you may have gotten final pricing info that perhaps is not out in market yet. Like you my contract is full of holes too.
Cheers

Dealer told me a $2k increase on 2013... I won't argue that.

If more, then I pay no more... if less then the savings will be passed on. Cant argue with that.

Prices have noting to do with reality in Australia
Companies are open as to they will charge what they can and what we will, pay
Sounds like the dealer is fishing to find just how much people will pay

Re: Help needed in Australia!

I was shopping for a new vehicle on the weekend .I was at my local jeep dealer, Nepean Motor Group at Penrith, after waiting for some assistance & making the rep aware we were seasoned Jeep owners having twice previously purchased Grand Cherokee vehicles, I was told the black colour was not available in Australia on the Trailhawk. Why not I asked ? could we make enquiries & special order given the vehicle would not be delivered till late August 2013 anyway?
No was the answer, I had previously contacted the corporate headquarters of chrysler in melbourne to discuss the same matter but I couldn't hold long enough.
Mr Jeep sales rep didn't seem to interested or concerned about my wishes. I thought it best to take my lovely wife & our business elsewhere.
The Australian dollar is performing quite well at the moment it buys $1.04 US dollars, yet we are paying $73,000 for an Overland GC. Why so much more than our US counterparts?
I believe the answer to this question is greed.
So I went to toyota & bought a Landcruiser Sahara instead. I still own a 2010 WK Overland for which I was offered $27,000 on trade in, with 30,000 km on the odometer(by jeep) I decided to keep it.
When I was contacted later in the day via sms by the jeep dealer, apologising about not being able to do a deal for us, I took delight in telling him I went to Toyota & spent $140,000 there for two motor vehicles.Thats what it's all about, treat loyal customers like crap & they will walk.

Re: Help needed in Australia!

Patch, it seems we are both in the same situation, i was told 2k aswell. Blaz, i don't think the $ has much to do with pricing, it's government greed, stamp duty, gst, luxury car tax, where do i stop, we pay 15k on top of the RRP.

Re: Help needed in Australia!

For the guys that have ordered, did you have to leave a deposit as well? I was told $1k-$2k deposit would be needed.

I spoke to Castle Hill Jeep in Sydney last week, I knew more than them but at least the guy was polite, listened to what I had to say, and even tried to find "Redline" for me (but couldn't). He has my info and says he will email when he can provide more details.

Re: Help needed in Australia!

SRT8wannabe, 1k is sufficient, you will find that the dealers don't know much about the cars and you will know more.

Speak to the sales manager by the name of Paige, she is quite helpful.

Good luck, let us know how you go..
