Help - New SRT wont start

You wouldn't believe it.. 3 days into ownership and the car is dead!
And its not the battery, all lights work, tailgate opens.. But no central locking, no accessories, no screen and no ignition.. Spoke to the dealer and they've got no idea so they're saying lets get a tow truck and we'll check it out.
Now as you can imagine the last thing I want to do is get my new baby on a tow truck and then have a bunch of mechanics climb all over my pride and joy aarrgghh!!!
It has to be something simple - I've checked the fuses and cant see anything obvious.. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks heaps

Thanks I'll check that out but still doesn't explain why there is no power to the accessories, screen, cluster etc

Help - New SRT wont start

Personally I wouldnt touch anything on a car that new....I'd call the dealer and have them come get it.

I couldn't agree more. Might be a simple loose ground or something much worse. I'd raise Hell that's for sure. Hopefully it isn't the main harness. That's a nightmare and I would demand another brand new car if that were the case.

Have you made sure it is plugged in at the wall and turned on?

Re: Help - New SRT wont start

My '11 Overland's battery died. It turned out that it was caused by a software glitch that told the computer that the tailgate was open (it wasn't) and the computer turned all the interior lights on. This drained the battery. The dealer re-flashed the software & recharged the battery. Everything was okay from that point on. When I first called the dealer, they told me not to recharge the battery myself as they needed to run a lengthy diagnostic to see if the battery was faulty.

You know there could be a similar issue with mine..
I had the mobile mechanic over today and he checked the battery and it had a loose negative terminal. This could have definitely contributed to the battery going flat which it was.
Problem is after recharging the battery there is still no accessories, ignition etc. Only the lights work. Could it be possible the computer has gone into some shut down mode?

It's possible, but you should take it to the dealer to find out for sure.

Back in the day, I used to do most of my car repairs myself. But today, vehicle mechanical & electronic systems are so complex & integrated, I rely on the dealer to do the work. They have the diagnostic equipment to find the problems, and do the necessary repairs to keep the warranty intact.
