Hey guys..back from the past. In May, I sold the Overland and after long and hard decision, decided to buy an Audi SQ5 instead of an SRT. It has 354 supercharged hp in a 4200 lb car and out of the box it'll go 0-60 in 5 seconds, 13.5 e.t., and a governed top speed of 155mph, which is quick in anybody's book. Being in the oil and gas business, I'm seeing signs of rising oil prices and that was one consideration, and I also really liked the fit and finish of the Audi.
Don't misunderstand...I freakin LOVE the brutal power of that SRT, but not at this juncture...
But what I wanted to throw into the mix here is that APR is now offering a stage 2 kit for the SQ5..... smaller supercharger pulley, CAI, and reprogrammed chip, which brings the HP up to about 450. Aftermarket exhaust systems are in the works. Some video of the first one I've seen is below

The other new player is the Porsche Macan turbo, which is good for 0-60 times of 4.4 seconds and sport car handling.( About $100K nicely equipped) The more basic version, the "S" is doing somewhere around 5.4 second 0-60. For me, if I was to be labeled a " Porsche Guy" it would have to be a 911 or maybe a Cayman... not CUV. I guess I'm gettin old!

Again....nothing against SRTs in general or Scott's blood red object of my desire, but keep an eye out....something may be in your rear view mirror
Adios Guys
Ed

P.S. Scott, I agree with you 100% on the R.R. douchebags....even if I liked RR, which I don't, I just could never join that club....I think I even saw one of the Kardashians in one!!!

Okay...

Simply looking at my posts on the subject will tell you how much I like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport. I've been labeled a troll more then once for my views.

But I strongly disagree with you on the WK2 SRT interior. It is JUST AS GOOD as any other top tier performance SUV.

The RRS interior is nice, but kind of bland. And the infotainment system has its own set of issues. The Porsche interior is outstanding (if configured correctly). Mercedes is excellent and well thought out.

I consider the WK2 SRT to be one of, it not THE best looking of the bunch, inside & out. The ONLY reason I haven't & won't purchase one is the LACK of OFF ROAD ability. I know many could care less about that, but I do & think it sucks that brands like Land Rover and Porsche offer something that JEEP doesn't.

Not sure on the price, but I think you're right...somewhere between $2-4 k. Not in my immediate future, that's for sure. I am working towards a suspension drop, several ways to go but haven't decided which way to go yet. That'll probably be it for a while
So far, most of the tuning stuff Ive been seeing has been on the TDI. I believe that's going to be the big thing in years to come. The torque figures that are showing up are starting to be crazy. 500 -600 ft/lb figures are now old news and the factory is going full bore behind the technology. And the aftermarket seems to really be able to pull more horsepower out of boosted diesel engines. I think market research is telling the manufacturers that we like that seat of the pants grunt... and they may be right. Gotta love that snap of the neck! They even are managing to make them sound a little like an engine instead of a duck fart....Who knows...they may be doing that through the stereo system... a lot of that crap going on now too. Unbelievable. Time will tell
Danm Scott! Beautiful and Rapid SRT...AND an A7??? Keep livin the life bro!

well JEEP is one of the best inside, i would disagree from quality wise, we have two 14' SRT and imagin the carbon fiber in the dash went out(i would happly sent you a picture), the leather on the top of my dash has some signs of sun affection(since the time i bought the car),, overall ya i agree with you that jeep has a very nice4 interior and i love it, but quality wise others are much higher quality(that is the difference in price too)

I had a '13 Overland and I think the interior was as nice as anything out there. Maybe the leather could have been a little softer, but considering it was a 4x Jeep, capable of off road anything, softer leather would probably be a mistake.

Only reason I didn't go with the Laguna leather is when I test drove the managers SRT it had about 7500klm on the clock and the manager weighs about 80 to 90 kilos and the leather was so hard to sit on and not to mention it was slippery as hell with jeans on ? Even when doing launch I was sliding around and going around corners I was sliding . The cars interior wasn't clean it was filthy , so I don't no how long the leather takes to go soft or break in ..

I considered them....test drove them and still ended up with the best bang for buck super SUV on the market...with $80k to play with over the price of a Cayenne TT. The interiors are in the eye of the beholder. You may like the BMW interiors...I don't and never have. The cayenne TT was like a 80s jet fighter with literally 1000 buttons. The RR Sport was so girly, OVERDONE and douche baggy looking just like 99% of its owners. They are very nice...don't get me wrong...but I like the simplicity, yet sleak and modern SRT interior. And I don't have to worry about my little boy throwing his baseball cleats or batbag in the floor board and messing up my RR Sports douchebag interior.....which is probably wet from the leaky sunroof.
Wow. The top performance SUV's the world can provide and they all suck, they all are driven by douche's....and all the drivers look like douche's as well That sounds like a jealous six year old sTina. I thought we were talking about vehicles, not the looks owners. Always the same line. I have driven them ALL and I can afford ALL, yet I continue to buy the slowest, most problematic and most over valued AND over priced. The new RR just beat a '12 SRT on the Nurburgring by over 30 seconds. Oh but wait, we didn't factor in the magical 8 speed of the '14. Surely that 8 speed would cut a full minute off and put the SRT back on top by 30 seconds. Bottom of the barrel boys and 2015 is only going to set the Jeep back further.

As per C&D magazine
The X5 M will be powered by a turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 with output of nearly 600 horsepower and well over 500 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed, paddle-shifted, dual clutch automatic will be tasked with shifting duties. This will be an updated evolution of the powertrain found in the previous X5 M, where it produced 555 horses and 500 lb-ft of torque and could sling the big beast from rest to 60 mph in four seconds flat. Considering that the current X5 xDrive50i can hit 60 in just 4.3 seconds with only 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, donít be surprised to see the 2015 X5 M do the deed in the high threes on its way to a top speed likely electronically limited to 174 mph, the same as most BMW M cars.
