Question How bad is the cabin drone for 2013-2014 SRT with borla catback??

I have the borla ATAK axle back and was offered to install the new catback system made for the 2015 SRT. However I read that Borla managed to manufacture a catback system is due to the active noise cancellation the 2015 has which can help reduce cabin drone. Since the 13-14 have spring loaded valves, a catback system is bound to induce cabin drone. But how bad is it? Anyone tried it can share their thoughts on this?

I have a friend with the Borla system, and really haven't found it to be all that bad. There's definitely more noise than stock, but never felt it was unbearable.

I see, how would it compare to drone from the borla axle back though?

Re: How bad is the cabin drone for 2013-2014 SRT with borla catback??

I've got the Catback on my 15, drone really doesn't exist at all especially in sport mode. I'd say a rating of 1/10 for drone with 10 being unbearable.

My mate has the 14 axle back and same goes.

The catback is beasty, loud, deep and throaty. Lower the revs and it's quiet, drop the hammer and it scares other drivers. Every time I start it up in public the sound turns heads, the Fastman TB helped too.

Yep the catback shouldn't have hideous drone on the 15 due to active noise cancellation as mentioned in OP. I have the ATAK on the 14 and yes the drone isn't that bad. I just wanted to know if someone has the catback installed on their 13-14 (since they both have spring operated exhaust valves) and how the drone compares to the axle back.

It all depends how you drive, if you drive it likes it stolen , you will never hear drone....drive it on the highway where most of my driving occurs and you will here it...especially when MDS starts (vibration too)I have a 15 and had a borla S cat back system but I returned it too stock because it droned. Like I said most of my drives are at highway speeds. And me personally can't stand drone. Good luck

Mine must be different because I totally disagree, and I just took a drive on the highway to test my theory.

Auto drive mode, cruising 100km/hr (60mile) and not a peep. The only time it groans is around 75-80km under light load, but I think this is a combination of gear change & mds. As soon as I accelerate into 8th and hit 85km it's silent.

Maybe it's the S-Type or I'm jus lucky who knows

Just remove the valves.....h3ad engineer on the srt jeep told me that. I get no drone with the valves removed on my axle back atak. No lights either...ever.

I have the S on my 14. It does drone a little depending what gear/rpm you are at, but it's definitely not bad at all and I think the sound is perfect. Aggressive but not obnoxious. But if you are super drone sensitive or do tons of highway driving I might reconsider an exhaust altogether. I don't drive my SRT much due to my work travel schedule, so usually when I drive it I'm just running some errands or taking a cruise.

I know, I have the ATAK and the drone is bearable, my question was about the new borla catback and how the drone compares to the ATAK.
