Yes, crappy camera phone video...but HOLY CRAP!! I had to get on the brakes and still ran 12.8@88. Guesstimate for a full run would be 12.6-7@104ish I guess. THIS THING PULLS AND KEEPS PULLING!!!
WOW!, amazing, would'nt this beast have to be the quickest production SUV on market today, would be very close to knocking the x5m of its mantle.
Good stuff SRT!
With 0-60 times like that I guess your 8 speed makes yours faster than my 5 speed with a blower.
How were both of your et's 12.8 @ 88mph? I know you said you had to hit the breaks once but both to have the same et at same speeds pulling a 3.9 0-60 I'd say I think something is up with your monitoring system.
One of the screens is the last run, which is the 12.8 run, which had a 4.1 0-60. The other screen is the BEST page... which is not numbers all from one run.
I'm just curious to how the 1/8 and 1/4 miles are the same with a 4 tenth different on the 0-60 and trapping at the same speed. Right now with a blower on my 392 my best 0-60 is like a 4.1. I guess the 5 speeds are just that slow. Even though I'm shifting it.
I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just stating that a 2013 vette which is only like 30 crank horse less than the jeep and almost 2,000 pounds lighter pulls a 3.9 second 0-60 and runs a 12.1 1/4 all day.
The EVIC treats each category independently, so the reason the has the same 1/4 mile time in both pictures is that it's showing you his best ever times for each category. They weren't recorded on the same run. Likely on his 3.9 0-60 he was unable to actually complete a pedal-to-the-floor 1/4 mile, so it's still reporting his earlier 1/4 mile as his best.
Below are a couple of my tries...just rolled over 500 and it was cool out tonight. Both times were done in track mode and got a little rear wheel slip both times. Not sure if sport mode would be better or not. Also, both of these were just a touch on an upslope (not much but definitely not flat). Don't know why the one time didn't post a better 1/4 mph. I think I can get better times....
I said I'd try to recreate, and I have. Best I've done is a 13.0 and 13.1, with 0-60 times of 4.5 and 4.6 on those runs.
I question the launch control, because it is very obvious that it isn't acting the same (to me at least since I'm in the driver's seat). It is back acting like it was <500 miles - it really acts the same as just mashing the gas.
On the 3.9 and 4.1 0-60 runs the other day, right over 500 miles, I thought something opened up due to the 'break-in' being over. Both of those runs the tires were slipping and trying to break loose - it was very apparent, audible, etc. The Jeep was a monster leaving... Now it is back to just squat and go...
So, I'm not sure if there is a trick to it, something to deal with the timing of stopping, mph coming into the stop, etc. Scott, any ideas from your 'experience'? It really is weird to me...I mean it left hard the other day, now it is back to easing it's way off.
Yea, same patch of asphalt, air temp is about 8 degrees warmer today. Just really strange to have that much difference IMO...
I have trouble believing that the air temperature would make a half second difference on a 0-60. If it was a 60 degree day vs a 100 degree day, ok. But not 61 vs 69... Who knows, I know I don't have insight into their programming
I passed the magic 500 miles / 800 km point today (FINALLY!)
I took it out and tried a few runs. Sadly, we don't have the app in Canada that gives us the fancy time slips.. but the smaller evic one in the dash does record. I did three 0-60 runs.
First time I did one, I practically crapped myself. I wasn't sure it was even working.. when you hit the launch button, then hit the brake and then the gas, it revs to around 2500 and then seems to be done and you think... it's not loud, it's not reved high.. wtf.
You release the brake and VROOM your ass is stapled to the back of the seat. I had to breathe to stop my balls from lodging themselves in my throat. it scared the shit out of me at first! haha
first run 5.0, second run, 4.9, third run, 5.1 - all different streets though.
Also noteworthy - I had a full tank of gas
I'm in Alberta, which means well above sea level (3438 feet above sea level) but I think I can better that 4.9.
Still - wow.
If you're thinking about buying one of these. DO EEEEEET!
Possibly...but I had been driving for quite sometime on both occasions with air temps being 8* apart.
The first day I had run my buddies 5.0 several times in a row before the 12.8 run as well, so it isn't like she was sitting there cooling off. I can also run over an over again and I will get 4.5 or 4.6 every single time, whether it is once or 5 times in a row.
The launch was definitely different the other day. Maybe the temp that we were at (61) provided parameters that changes the timing/makes it more aggressive? Who knows, but I doubt we'll get another cool snap until fall...
