That's theft! Are you getting the same quote from everybody? If so, you have bad credit, or don't know how to drive and have a lot on your license. For a 2014? That's more than your payment !
$306/6months for $500k/$500k/$500 deduct including non-taxi/limo biz use w/passengers...because of these riders instead of getting rated for my low risk home zip I get rated for worst risk zip in home county which is East Cleveland...
I live in one of the top 10 worst counties for car insurance. I pay ~ 150/month for 2 cars with full coverage, etc... and I have a spotless driving record.
I'm live in Vancouver British Columbia Canada and we get screwed over royally, as we must use the provincial insurance corp. I have the maximum discounts, no collisions, no tickets, and still pay $210 per month!!! That's $2500 per year!!! We have an option to purchase partial private insurance coverage and can drop total by a bit, but not much. The next province over is Alberta and they pay over half that as they have full private insurance companies there.
I have two other vehicles insured too. A 2012 Civic Si and that is $1900 per year.
2007 jeep JK and that is $1680 per year.
The SRT and JK are even rated for pleasure use. The Civic is insured for daily use. So I pay just over 6k per year total to drive 3 vehicles. With only my wife and I driving in the household, and only 2 can be driven at one time.
Don't even get me started with annual city taxes on my house. ?
if you live in a single family home ignore what follows but...if this whole premium thing is a complete surprise and out of line from previous rides AND if u don't have a jackalope driving record or credit history, or claims history, AND u live in an apartment building where the street addresses are all the same except for apt/suite # that could be the problem....it sometimes happens that the insurance company has a faulty data slice which combines records for anyone who has lived either at your street address without regard to actual apt/suite separation or specifically in your apt/suite...besides your own "stuff" insurance premiums can be heavily influenced by "birds of a feather, flock together"...usually only to zipcode level but can get as granular as a physical location....just a thought
I'm 21 and my driving record is clean, my credit it's pretty good. My agent was telling me it's because of my area. I don't see why as there's really not that many problems around here. Close to yankee stadium. My house has a backyard and a garage so I always park inside. I might look into switching my address for the insurance but I'd have to switch everything over. I'd be able to afford the insurance but why would I want to do that. Don't get me wrong this is my dream car and I want it badly but at these rates....My only other option is to wait till the rates to drop.
Shop around yourself online. See if it compares to what your agent is telling you.
And yea 21 years old the insurance companies will kill you.
I remember about 12 years ago when I got on my parents insurance when I was 16 their rate went from 80 a month to almost 300 and every 6 months it went down and when I was 22 and registered the 2010 SRT Jeep in my name it was almost 120 dollars a month through GEICO. Renewed the policy after the first 6 months and it was 100 for it and stayed like that even when I bought my 2015 SRT back in May of 15 till last year when I got the Charger. It went up to 175 per month and I asked GEICO why and they said it was bc of the 707 horsepower lol.
I took the defensive driving course and its back down to 120 a month.
Insurance is high for the area but thats just crazy.
If you can I would suggest having a parent register the car in their name and get on the policy as an additional driver until you are 25-26 and then register in your own name.
Right now I'm paying State Farm 290 for my 05 wk hemi. It's my policy and my mom is in it as well. I was under her insurance with Allstate and they tried to raise our rates my rate was going to go up from 330 to 380 for no reason. No way on earth I was going to let my LIABILITY coverage go up for no reason. I shopped around, the highest was MetLife said $1500.00 a month, I laughed as soon as they told me that. Others were around $400-700. The car is registered under my moms name but she wants me to put everything under mine.
Your rates are high because people in NY really can't drive. I was visiting cousins on Long Island and every car on the LIE had dents. I felt like I was in that old video game Smash up derby!
