I just went into my bluetooth options and turned on show notifications. Maybe that will change it

Re: Iphone 5 on the new 14

Needs to support Message Access Profile (MAP) over BT. Not sure on Apple's support of that...

Android did this well up until 4.2.2 when they integrated v4.0 of the BT stack. Now it is broken... (Unless you are like me use custom ROMS on your phone , but, you're iOS so I know you aren't).

Messaging with iPhone is not supported and is crippled to some extent. I read it somewhere on the UConnect website regarding compatibility. If I get around to the link I will post it. But as it stand, outbound messaging is not supported with iPhones Maybe with iOS 7 :O

Re: Iphone 5 on the new 14

Snapshot from the UConnect support site - found under Bluetooth Application Pairing Info is similar on iPhone 4/4S/5

This is what is in the question mark info next to Voice Texting (Free-Form Text)
Powerful, cloud-based voice recognition allows you to dictate free form text messages, and send them from your Bluetooth-enabled phone without taking your hands of the wheel or focus from the road. Requires a phone that supports bluetooth MAP protocol.

I don't know which auto manufacturer Apple has this functionality enabled but obviously not UConnect - I know they are working with Honda to get Siri interfaced - somewhere I'm guessing it works on Ford/Lincoln.

Hopefully we get it with the new iOS7. That would be cool!

Re: Iphone 5 on the new 14

Unless Apple come out with a larger screen soon this sounds like the final straw that will push me over to Android.

Can anyone with Samsung phone and a '14 JGC confirm they play well together? I am thinking of a Galaxy Note 2 - any problems with it and the car??

Re: Iphone 5 on the new 14

On your iPhone 5 go to Settings-->Bluetooth-->Uconnect, then hit the blue arrow to the left of the Uconnect title and turn on Show Notifications. This will allow new text messages to be read, but you can't reply to them. You can, however, just hold down the Home button and dictate your text message reply thru Siri.
